A look at the fantasy performances from July 2, 2017

  • Ian Happ went 3 for 4 with a pair of homers in a Cubs win over the Reds. He finished with 4 RBI on the day. He is batting .264 with 12 HR and 27 RBI on the year. Jake Arrieta had a bounce back performance going 7 scoreless innings. He allowed just 1 hit and stuck out 6. This is light years better than his last start so maybe he is turning a corner going into July.
  • Kevin Gausman went 7 scoreless innings in a win over the Rays. The Orioles starter allowed just 2 hits while striking out 9. This is his 2nd straight scoreless outing. Manny Machado and Mark Trumbo each homered in the win.
  • Mookie Betts had an amazing day in a Red Sox 15-1 win over the Blue Jays. Betts went 4 for 6 with 2 HR and 8 RBI! He also scored 3 runs and stole a base. That’s the kind of performance which can help fantasy owners make a comeback on a Sunday. Betts now has 15 HR and 15 SB on the year with 51 RBI and 56 runs scored.
  • Jose Ramirez went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs in a Indians win over the Tigers. Ramirez would finished with 4 RBI and 4 runs scored. He now has 15 HR and 59 runs scored with a .325 average on the season. Justin Verlander was roughed up for 7 runs on 9 hits in just 3.1 innings of work. Verlander issued 3 walks in the loss and did not record a strikeout. This start bumps his season ERA to 4.96.
  • Marcell Ozuna went 3 for 6 with 2 homers in a Marlins win over the Brewers. Ozuna has 4 RBI and 2 runs scored in the contest. Ozuna is batting .316 with 22 HR and 59 RBI on the season. Eric Thames and Orlando Arcia each had solo homers in the loss. Arcia has now homered in 2 straight and is hitting .288 on the year.
