- Jose Quintana was amazing in his Cubs debut. The newly acquired SP went 7 scoreless innings allowing just 3 hits with 12 Ks. Quite the debut! Kris Bryant went 3 for 4 with a 2-run HR in the win over the Orioles. This was his 19th HR of the year.
- The Nationals offense put in some work with a 14-4 win over the Reds. Daniel Murphy had a big day going 3 for 4 with 2 home runs. He would finished with 2 runs and 5 RBI. Murphy now has 16 HR 71 RBI and a .348 average on the season. Anthony Rendon was 2 for 5 with a homer and 2 RBI.
- Steven Matz was roughed up by the Rockies. The Mets starter allowed 7 runs on 9 hits in just 1 inning of work. Matz entered the game with an ERA of 3.05 but left it with a 4.58. This is also his 2nd straight outing allowing at least 5 runs. For Colorado, Charlie Blackmon went 2 for 6 with an inside the park home run. He would finished with 2 runs and 2 RBI.
- The Dodgers stayed hot with a sweep of the Marlins. In Sunday’s game, Rich Hill tossed 5 innings of 1 run ball in the win. He had 9 strikeouts. Hill lowered his season ERA to 3.55 with a stretch of good starts recently. Justin Turner was 2 for 3 with a solo HR. He now has 11 HR and 39 RBI to go with an absurd average of .374.
- Nelson Cruz hit a go ahead solo HR in the 10th inning to help the Mariners win 7-6 over the White Sox. Cruz now has 19 HR and 73 RBI this year. Avisail Garcia went 2 for 5 with 2 homers in the loss. Garcia would finish with 3 RBI in the game. Garcia has slowed from his hot start but this performance could be the start of his next hot streak.
