Every once and awhile, I like to provide updates on who the best and worst offenses in baseball are so you can know who to avoid and who to get excited about when streaming starting pitchers or just deciding when to bench your rostered ones. Since handedness is very important here, I’ve got the ten best and worst offenses against each hand, for a total of four tables. These are subject to change as the season goes on, but we are almost halfway now and should have a pretty good idea of where these teams stand. Enjoy!

Best Offenses Against RHP

Rank Team wOBA
1 Astros 0.354
2 Yankees 0.353
3 Nationals 0.348
4 Diamondbacks 0.345
5 Rays 0.343
6 Dodgers 0.336
7 Indians 0.333
8 Reds 0.332
9 Mariners 0.33
10 Mets 0.328

Worst Offenses Against RHP

Rank Team wOBA
21 Marlins 0.314
22 Blue Jays 0.314
23 Pirates 0.312
24 Cubs 0.311
25 Angels 0.307
26 Royals 0.302
27 Phillies 0.3
28 White Sox 0.299
29 Padres 0.296
30 Giants 0.288

Best Offenses Against LHP

Rank Team wOBA
1 White Sox 0.363
2 Cubs 0.347
3 Nationals 0.336
4 Astros 0.336
5 Red Sox 0.333
6 Rockies 0.332
7 Dodgers 0.331
8 Tigers 0.331
9 Reds 0.328
10 Braves 0.326

Worst Offenses Against LHP

Rank Team wOBA
21 Phillies 0.302
22 Angels 0.301
23 Cardinals 0.3
24 Diamondbacks 0.3
25 Pirates 0.297
26 Athletics 0.296
27 Royals 0.295
28 Giants 0.294
29 Rangers 0.293
30 Padres 0.279

So there you have it. The Padres, Giants, Royals, Angels, and Pirates are bad against everyone, and the Rangers, Diamondbacks, Rays really struggle against lefties compared to righties. The Red Sox, White Sox, and Cubs all crush lefties while struggling against righties. The Nationals, Astros, Dodgers, and Reds should just be avoided altogether when streaming.

I hope these leaderboards are helpful tools for you as we approach the mid point of the season. All stats are courtesy of Fangraphs. Tschus!
