  • Jacob deGrom followed up his complete game with another nice start against the Nationals. The Mets starter went 8 innings allowing just 3 hits with 6 Ks in the winning effort. The only run against him was unearned. He also hit his 1st career HR. Trea Turner was 1 for 3 with 4 steals in the loss. Turner now has 26 SB this season.
  • Edwin Encarnacion had a huge game in an Indians 5-2 win over the Twins. He was 3 for 4 with 2 HR and drove in all 5 runs for Cleveland. Despite the slow start, Encarnacion now has 16 HR and 36 RBI. Trevor Bauer pitched 7 innings of 2 run ball with 8 Ks in the win. Cody Allen pitched the 8th and Andrew Miller picked up his 1st save of the season. This does not appear to be a permanent change but Miller is a more than capable option regardless of the inning.
  • Anthony Rizzo went 3 for 5 with a 2-run HR in a 7-1 Cubs win over the Pirates. He also doubled and scored 3 runs. Since moving to the lead off spot, Rizzo is batting .409 with 3 HR. Not your typical lead off hitter but he has been successful nonetheless.
  • Steven Souza Jr. was 2 for 4 with a grand slam in the Rays 9-1 win over the Tigers. Souza Jr. has been hot/cold/hot/cold all season but has 13 HR and 44 RBI to show for it. Logan Morrison hit 2 home runs in the game as well. Morrison finished with 3 runs scored and 3 RBI and now has 21 HR on the year. Jacob Faria continued his impressive start to his career with 7 innings of 1 run ball. He had 9 strikeouts and moved to 3-0 on the season. He will take his 1.37 ERA back to Tampa Bay in a matchup against the Orioles later this week.
  • Kyle Seager and the Mariners took down the Rangers 7-3. Seager was 3 for 5 with 3 doubles and 3 RBI in the win. Yu Darvish allowed 5 runs on 8 hits with 5 Ks in just 5 innings of work. The rare off day for the Rangers ace bumps his season ERA up to 3.35. Carlos Gomez had a 2-run HR in the loss. Since returning from the DL on Friday, he has 8 RBI.
