Friday Fun: What’s the worst draft pick you’ve ever made?

Last year was not a great drafting year for me...

It’s Friday and while that means the weekend is just around the corner, it also means that most everyone’s afternoon is spent staring at the clock just waiting for work to get out. So, I decided to help distract you from the monotonous tick tick of the clock and from that mound of work on your desk. You’re welcome!

Last week I asked for people’s best trade stories and we got some amazing ones (these two are still my favorites). But this week I decided to ask a less thrilling question: worst draft pick.

I am not one who likes to dwell in the past—I’m not Troy Aikman—but I am someone who likes to hold long standing grudges against professional athletes who have no idea I exist and will most likely never meet me, just because they did not perform as well as I thought they should have in fantasy.

What sparked this idea was talking with Heath Capps yesterday via Twitter. He had mentioned the Coby Fleener hypetrain last year which I was all aboard on and had I been with Fake Teams then, you would have all been sick of hearing about. However, as anyone who plays fantasy football knows, Coby Fleener did not pan out, mustering only 78 total points. Awful. I never dropped him because I named my team after him that year, Coby Wan Kenobi. It was such an awesome name and I couldn’t not have him on the team if I was going to keep the name.

But sadly, he wasn’t even the worst pick I made last year. My worst pick was taking Todd Gurley with the fifth overall pick. Ugh talk about depressing season. Gurley had a few decent games but none worthy of being the fifth pick in the draft. I’ve now grown very skeptical of Todd, but hopefully the skepticism will have him fall in this year’s draft so I can take him late and see what happens. I’m not touching Coby Fleener.

What was your worst draft pick? Leave your worst pick in the comments or—if you want to tell us more and paint a verbal picture for us—write a FanPost and we’ll make sure to share it!

Hopefully this will be able to distract you for the final moments of the week.

Happy weekends!
