What: FireKeepers Casino 400
When: June 18th
Where: Michigan International Speedway
2016 Winner: Joey Logano
Track: Michigan International Speedway. Created in 1968, this 2 mile asphalt D-shaped Speedway has 18 degree banked turns and 12 degree banked front stretch and 5 degree back stretch. It serves as a sister track to Texas World Speedway and hosts two NASCAR races (Firekeepers Casino 400 and Pure Michigan 400). It is not a restrictor plate race and is among the faster tracks on the circuit.
Brad Keslowski. Last year at Michigan he finished 4th and 3rd, in 2016 he was 6th and 9th. He finally had a top five finish at the Pocono's after a 39th place finish at Charlotte and 38th place finish at Dover (both DNF..furthermore didn't even make it to 100 laps!).
Kyle Larson. After a minor blip at Charlotte he came back to elite status with a 2nd place finish at Dover and 7th place at the Poconos, now he goes to Michigan where he held 3rd place and 1st place finishes last year. Personally I'm down to 5 starts left with him so I'm trying to be cautious.
Chase Elliott. I deviated away from the fearsome B-some due to limitations on starts but now I'm back. Much like Kyle, Chase had two solid starts at Michigan last season finishing 2nd in both races. This might be as good a shot as any for Chase's first 2017 win since he can open up here.
Erik Jones - I started the season with a great mix back and forth but lately I keep picking wrong in the C-debate of Erik Jones or Daniel Suarez. Erik posted a 3rd place finish last week at the Poconos and now has three straight top 15 finishes. I'm banking on one more at Michigan.
Ty Dillon. He had a 24th place finish in one race here in 2016. He finished 14th and 18th at Charlotte and Pocono's and he'd be as good of a bet as any dark horses for a top 20 finish at Michigan.
