Swarming MLB: UNU’s Picks for May 10th

UNU, MLB

AI TAKES A SWING AT ALL THE MLB ACTION ON MAY 10th

The toughest task the UNU MLB Swarm has to face is figuring out which teams are going to be in it for the long haul, and which teams aren’t. The swarm has to determine which teams that have started slowly have a chance to come back, and which clubs have been too sapped by injuries and aging and poor performance to keep up with the leaders.

Thus, we’re six weeks into the Major League Baseball season, and the divisional races are starting to sort themselves into a recognizable order. The Yankees boast the best record in the American League, while the Nationals have taken charge in the National League. That isn’t to say that things are going to continue to realign in the standings, though. Here's a quick look at how the swarm sees the matchups on May 10th playing out.

Two teams that sit atop the standings in their respective divisions may come as a surprise. The Rockies are well above .500 and lead the National League West. Over in the Central, the Cardinals have overcome a woeful 3-9 start and currently enjoy a small lead over the Cubs and Reds. The MLB swarm has to consider whether those starts are real…or a bit of a mirage. So how did they see both teams faring on Wednesday?

As you can see, the swarm is more sold on the Cardinals – or at least returning staff workhorse Lance Lynn, who missed 2016 due to Tommy John surgery – than they are on the Rockies. Or, perhaps the different results seen above are more a reflection on the competition. The Rockies are facing the defending World Series champs, while the Cardinals are facing what appears to be a struggling Miami club.

Every week during the MLB season, Unanimous A.I. will be conducting swarms to pick the outcomes of games. If you’d like to either join a swarm or just get the predictions weekly, feel free to drop by UNU.
