- The sky is blue, the grass is green, water is wet, and Chris Sale has another double digit strikeout game. Sale dominated the Orioles for 8 innings allowing 2 runs and getting 11 Ks. This marks his 5th straight double digit strikeout performance and 3rd straight 8 inning outing. He’s good. Sale also got his 2nd win of the year thanks to the Red Sox offense providing 5 runs. Hanley Ramirez had a 2 HR night. Both were solo shots.
- Tyler Glasnow picked up his 1st win in the Pirates 12-3 victory over the Reds. Glasnow allowed a 3-run HR to Joey Votto in the 1st inning but wouldn’t allow any more damage. He went 6 innings striking out 5. Josh Harrison lauched a 3-run HR of his own. This was his 5th on the season. That is the most he’s had in 1 year since 2014 when he hit 13 bombs. Billy Hamilton added 2 more steals in the contest as well. He now has 15 SB on the year and 5 SB in the last 2 games.
- Corey Kluber was forced to leave his start against the Tigers early due to lower back discomfort. Kluber was pounded for 7 hits and 5 runs in just 3 innings of work. This appears to be related to the back issues he had earlier in the year so a trip to the DL is possible. Detroit was glad to have Miguel Cabrera back. In his 1st game since returning from the DL, Cabrera hit a 2-run HR. Justin Verlander pitched 7 innings of 2 run ball with 5 Ks and picked up his 2nd W on the year.
- Jay Bruce tried his best but the Mets still fell to the Braves 9-7. Bruce was 2 for 5 with 2 homers and 6 RBI. He now has 9 HR 22 RBI and a .293 batting average. Freddie Freeman hit his 10th HR of the year for Atlanta. He certainly looks like he has turned a corner and become a no doubter top 20 fantasy option. In addition to his 10 HR, Freeman has 25 runs scored and has a OBP of .491!
- The Yankees smashed 5 more homers in a 11-5 win over the Blue Jays. Aaron Judge continues to provide souvenirs with 2 more home runs in this one. Judge would finish with 3 runs scored and 4 RBI as well. This brings his 2017 stat line to 12 HR 26 R 25 RBI .313 AVG. Brett Gardner went 3 for 5 with 2 homers of his own. This being just days after he hit 2 bombs on Saturday. Steve Pearce was a lone bright spot for Toronto. He was 4 for 4 with 2 home runs, but those were his 1st 2 homers of the season.
