  • A Jason Vargas vs Jake Odorizzi game has fantasy baseball written all over it. Both starters were presented with good matchups and both pitched well. Odorizzi went 6 innings of 1 run ball with 4 Ks. He now has a 2.61 ERA and 0.84 WHIP in 6 starts this year. Vargas got the better of him though. The Royals pitcher went 7 scoreless innings allowing just 3 hits while striking out 4 as well. A 1.01 ERA 0.92 WHIP and 39 Ks belong to Jason Vargas in 2017. What a world!
  • Mookie Betts played hero for the Red Sox in a 4-1 win over the Brewers. Betts broke a tie with a 3-run HR in the 9th. He would finish going 2 for 3 in the game. He is 10 for 17 with 3 HR 7 R and 9 RBI in his last 4 games. The homer came at the expense of Brewers closer Neftali Feliz. He allowed 2 hits and walk in addition to the 3 runs (2 earned runs) while only getting 1 out. This outing raised his ERA to 6.19 on the year. This was not a save chance, but Feliz needs to pitch better or Milwaukee might not use him in high leverage situation soon.
  • Mike Napoli had a big game in a 5-2 Rangers win over the Padres. Napoli was 2 for 3 with 2 homers including a walk-off 3-run HR in the 9th. He’s had a bad season and is still hitting just .172. This could be the game he needs to get going.
  • Dallas Keuchel quest for Cy Young #2 continued in an Astros 3-2 win over the Yankees. Keuchel went 6 innings giving up just 1 run and striking out 9. He moves to 6-0 on the year and the high strikeout total is a welcoming bonus for his fantasy owners. Carlos Correa continues to swing a hot bat. He was 2 for 3 with a 2-run HR. Ken Giles gave up a run but still managed to nail down his 10th save of the season.
  • Zack Greinke is having a great bounce back season. He had a no-hitter going through 7 but lost it on a Gregory Polanco HR to start the 8th inning. This was the lone hit he allowed. He went 8 innings with 11 Ks. This gives him a 2.79 ERA 1.03 WHIP and 58 strikeouts in 8 starts.
