Fantasy Hockey: Weekly NHL Forecaster 3/6 - 3/12

Trust in the Rangers on the road.

Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

Weekly NHL Forecaster 3/6 -€” 3/12

Below is the average of ‘CORSI For per 60 minutes' on the Home team and Away team to tell me if this is going to be a shot filled matchup. The graph below is sorted from the most offensively oriented games to the least offensively oriented. To put it in a nutshell, if you want goals scored -€” look at the top teams, if you want to see where your goalie will be seeing few shots and have the best opportunity look to the bottom. Updated as of 12/28/2016

Ten Notes:
1. Pittsburgh Penguins. Sure all three matchups are on the road but Edmonton struggles to score at home, Winnipeg struggles to stop goals at home and Vancouver is just the 2nd worst team in the NHL.

2. Nashville Predators. They are the lucky California trip team this week, I am never a fan of this, especially given how strong Anaheim, LA and San Jose are this year.

3.Montreal Canadiens. After a very dry spell in terms of wins, they get to face Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton at home, should be a chance for them to go 3-0.

4. Anaheim Ducks. They have 4 games and I don't like ANY of them. Nashville is tough, at Chicago and at St. Louis are tough loud venues and then home against the best team in the NHL.

5. Columbus Blue Jackets. Should be fun to see recently traded Kyle Quincy go up against Dalton Prout as they face off against New Jersey to start this week. They also have and home and away against Buffalo. I think this is a good week to see Brandon Dubinsky (29% owned) and Boone Jenner (43% owned) continue to shine.

6. Toronto Maple Leafs. They get to feast on Detroit Red Wings who have mailed it in, Philadelphia who is struggling to find their place and Carolina who is very up and down. Jake Gardner (54% owned) and Leo Komorov (19% owned) have been great lately.

7. Washington Capitals. I said I never feel good about the California road trip. With that said, if there was a time -€” it's with the team who has the 4th most road goals and 3rd fewest goals against. Brett Connolly (3% owned) is averaging a point per game over the last month. He went a bit cold over the last 5 but not a bad flier in deeper leagues.

8. Detroit Red Wings. Four games and shy of the first one against Toronto, the rest are all looking tough for them.

9. New York Rangers. All four games on the road and they are the 3rd best scoring team on the road and toughest defensive team on the road. Take your pick: Brady Skjei (24% owned), JT Miller (76% owned), Kevin Hayes (45% owned) or Oscar Lindberg (1% owned).

10. Tampa Bay Lightning. The team is 3-4-3 over their last ten, they get to stay at home but it's against New York Rangers ( 6-3-1 over their last 10), Minnesota Wild (6-3-1 over their last 10) and Florida (you guessed it 6-3-1 over their last 10).
