Weekly NHL Forecaster 3/13 - 3/19

Long week the Hurricanes and the Blackhawks have an up and down schedule.

Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY Sports

Weekly NHL Forecaster 3/13 -€” 3/19

Below is the average of ‘CORSI For per 60 minutes' on the Home team and Away team to tell me if this is going to be a shot filled matchup. The graph below is sorted from the most offensively oriented games to the least offensively oriented. To put it in a nutshell, if you want goals scored -€” look at the top teams, if you want to see where your goalie will be seeing few shots and have the best opportunity look to the bottom. Updated as of 12/28/2016

Ten Notes:
1. Calgary Flames -€” 9-0-1 in their last 10. They have A high paced solid week ahead of them with Pittsburgh, Boston, Dallas and LA all at home, should be fun to watch. I'm not sure if they can sustain the success or will falter badly as the pendulum potentially swings the other way.

2. Florida Panthers -€” They have quite the road trip after a home game vs. Toronto. They face three of the Metropolitans (and NHL's) best with Columbus, Rangers and Penguins, avoid playing Panthers players this week if possible.

3. New Jersey has one win in their last 10 and now they have to week where 3 of the 4 teams have gone 18-8-4 over their last 10. The Devils are in straight up free fall through the remainder of the year.

4. Arizona Coyotes. The moving drama is enough noise for their locker room, I think that is a major distraction from what's occurring on the ice, I don't think this will be a good week.

5. St. Louis Blues have the distinct honor of the California sting this week, never a fan of those odds.

6. Carolina Hurricanes. It is VERY rare you get 5 games in one week. If your team locks in, I'd take it even with the difficulty they face. +/- will struggle but this is rife with point opportunity, then in turn I would bench the players when they are gassed next week. Not a bad week to gamble with younger guys like Sebastian Aho (28% owned), Teuvo Teravainen (12% owned) or Elias Lindholm (5% owned).

7. Buffalo Sabres. They have the California trip. They will fight hard during it but I'm not jumping out to play Evander Kane, Kyle Okposo, Sam Reinhart or Marcus Foligno.

8. Detroit Red Wings. A home and away with the Avalanche who might be trying to lose right now and a matchup with Arizona should help pull the Red Wings from their 3-6-1 funk.

9. Columbus Blue Jackets. Four games and only one of them has a winning record over their last 10. New York Islanders are fighting with Philadelphia for that playoff spot, the difference is the Islanders are actually winning games.

10. Chicago Blackhawks. They start out on the road against a tough Montreal and Ottawa team but then return to play a downtrodden Maple Leafs and non-existent Avalanche team. Richard Panik (53% owned) has been lights out over his last 12 games.
