Evander Kane is heating up (and so is Buffalo)

Weekly NHL Forecaster 2/20 - 2/27

Below is the average of ‘CORSI For per 60 minutes' on the Home team and Away team to tell me if this is going to be a shot filled matchup. The graph below is sorted from the most offensively oriented games to the least offensively oriented. To put it in a nutshell, if you want goals scored -€” look at the top teams, if you want to see where your goalie will be seeing few shots and have the best opportunity look to the bottom. Updated as of 12/28/2016

Ten Notes:
1. Carolina Hurricanes. They face Pittsburgh, Ottawa and Calgary at home but the canes are the 6th best defensive team at home so there is a chance for solid +/- and  Cam Ward (59% owned) to have a good week.

2. Calgary Flames. They have 4 games on the road against middle of the road opponents but here is the rub -€” the Flames are the 3rd worst team scoring on the road. Don't expect much out of this stretch. Conversely they have allowed the 8th fewest goals so these might be low scoring games all around.

3. Dallas Stars, two games at home against a bad Coyotes team and a struggling Bruins squad. Dallas has the 8th most home goals in the league. Patrick Eaves (25% owned) has been playing amazing over the last month with 5 goals and 4 assists in 13 games.

4. Florida Panthers. Ironically after a week in California against all of the toughest west coast teams they come back home with 3 home games and I want NO part of it. Their home scoring is 2nd worst in the league. Calgary could be favorable but Ottawa and Edmonton aren't easy on the road.

5. Vancouver Canucks. One game, at home, where they actually are 3rd worst in the league in scoring, against a red hot San Jose team.

6. Buffalo Sabres -€” If you said they had to go on the road in a back to back games I wouldn't be in favor of it, until I hear it's against Colorado and Arizona, this is coming across a lot of teams lately and they must be loving it. Evander Kane (48% owned) with 7 goals and 5 assists in his last 13 games.

7. Philadelphia Flyers. Two games -€” Washington who is lights out on Defense and Pittsburgh on the road where Philadelphia is notoriously low in scoring this season.

8. Edmonton Oilers. The 5th best road team in scoring gets 4 road matches to test their wits through southeast America -€” TB, Florida, Washington and Nashville, I actually like the potential for this trip for them.

9. Anaheim Ducks -€” Three games bookended with road trips (Arizona, LA) and a home game against Boston in the middle. The last one on the road against LA could be tough but the trip isn't that long for them, I think the Ducks could go 3-0 this week.

10. Boston Bruins. New coach  Bruce Cassidy will have his hands full with a back to back Anaheim/LA match followed by a trip 3 days later to Dallas.
