This is not a joke people. This is for real. The Giants are actually starting Geno Smith this week instead of Eli Manning.

As you might guess, Eli did not take too kindly to this:
Unreal. Had to read this all twice. pic.twitter.com/zD5o5eUnT9

To be honest, I’m still kind of processing this but I can tell you this much: give up on all your Giants shares. I mean my god they were bad with Eli and now you’ve got Geno Smith throwing the football? What’s even the point in the Giants playing anymore? This is about as blatant a tanking I’ve ever seen. That and the Colts starting Curtis Painter for a full season to just happen to stumble upon the best quarterback prospect to come out of college since Peyton Manning, just to ruin him as well. But I digress.
Sterling Shepard and Evan Engram’s values certainly take a hit but maybe not as big a hit as everyone thinks. It’s not that Smith is a good quarterback and it’s not that Eli has been so horribly awful this season that Smith is an upgrade, it’s more that those two guys are really all the Giants’ passing attack has to offer so they have to catch at least some footballs. That being said, if the Giants are all set to dive head first into the bottom of the NFL, they might also just throw Shepard on IR since he’s been battling with injury and illness recently.
Really all that we can take away from this is that the Giants are crumbling from the inside out, Ben McAdoo is basically fired, Eli Manning will be playing for another team next year and the Giants better have a quarterback figured out soon because Odell Beckham’s rookie contract is ending soon and you don’t want him leaving town.
At least you got those two Super Bowls Giants fans.
