The RODS rankings are my self-developed statistical analysis of team performance, looking at all three phases of the game. The Standard RODS is an aggregate of the Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams ratings and is based purely on what happens on the field, taking into consideration no outside factors. Additionally I have taken the standard fantasy point scoring from ESPN and aggregated each team’s total fantasy output so we are able to compare actual performance with their fantasy output. For a further breakdown of how the ratings are derived, you can find the full breakdown of the RODS ratings here.
RODS Rankings Week 10
In a week that was devoid of any major upsets (I was 13-1 in my picks this week), we’ve seen the strong get stronger at the top of the rankings. The top 6 teams have remained as they were last week, with the only changes within those teams this week seeing the Saints join the Rams as the joint top teams in the NFL. The Saints posted a +72.9% rating in their demolition of the Bills on the road, the highest of week 10, compared to the Rams who posted the second highest rating (with the Panthers) of +68.6%. The top two have put some distance between themselves on the third placed Eagles. This is the 8th season I have tracked the RODS rankings and the Rams and Saints start to 2017 qualifies as the best graded performance of any teams over that period. Below are the top graded teams through week 10 of each season since 2010.
2017 - Rams and Saints +37.0%
2016 - Cowboys +22.1%
2015 - Cardinals +26.8%
2014 - Broncos +25.4%
2013 - Panthers +29.8%
2012 - 49ers +30.3%
2011 - Texans +29.8%
2010 - Chargers +27.3%
At the bottom of the rankings, the Dolphins remain the worst team in the NFL as they posted a -67.1% rating as they were blown out on Monday Night Football by the surging Panthers. The Giants remain second bottom as they showed a complete lack of effort in handing the 49ers their first victory. The 49ers move up one place to 28th as a result.
The Rams remain the highest scoring fantasy team as they had another day where they scored over 120 points as a team, the second highest of the week. After one week of getting off the bottom of fantasy scoring, The Dolphins fall back to the bottom as the Browns put up over 80 fantasy points in the defeat to the Lions, with DeShone Kizer posting his best fantasy performance of his rookie season.
