NHL Power Rankings: November 9th

Avalanche are good?

NHL: Colorado Avalanche at New York Islanders Anthony Gruppuso-USA TODAY Sports

Surprises:

Rangers (8-7-2): After a 1-7 start, the Rangers turned 180 going 7-2 over their next 9 games. Will the real Rangers please stand up?

Edmonton (6-8-1): They have slowly turned around winning 3 of their last 4 games but they still sport a 6-8-1 record and have an uphill battle to climb after a lackluster start

Minnesota (6-7-2) what is going on with this team? They were a top 5 team in the NHL last year scoring the 2ndmost goals, this year they are 17th in goals scored.

Colorado (8-6) & Vancouver (8-6-2) not only are these teams not the bottom feeders, they aren’t even in the bottom 10! Brock Boeser, Nathan MacKinnon and Tyson Barrie all are paving their own narratives as these teams continue to win.

There were who we thought they were:

Vegas (9-5-1) after a very very impressive 8-1 start they have since gone 1-5 over their last 6 as they battle through with their third goalie having injuries plaguing the team.

Buffalo (5-8-2) there are growing pains to this team. They show signs of brilliance with wins over Anaheim and Washington and then struggles with an 0-5 start to the season.

Toronto (10-7) they have the 2nd most goals for and the 2nd most goals against. This insanely talented young team needs defense help badly.

Nashville (8-5-2) They are brilliant at not being an elite team but not staying out of the conversation of those teams laying in waiting slowly rising up the boards.
