I have added notes this week so I will keep the introduction short. Make sure you double-check the status of Rob Gronkowski tonight, but my short insight into that situation is that you PLAY HIM if he starts.
A lot of the upper-echelon guys have tough matchups this week, but that isn’t enough for me to downgrade any of them in a massive way.
Cheers, and haggle with me in the comments.
Tight End Rankings: Week 5
RANK | NAME | OPPONENT | NOTES |
---|---|---|---|
RANK | NAME | OPPONENT | NOTES |
| Rob Gronkowski | @ TB | Gronk is questionable with a thigh injury, but if he plays you start him. |
| Travis Kelce | @ HOU | A tough matchup, but you cannot bench a guy getting his volume. |
| Jimmy Graham | @ LAR | The Rams have given up scores to Garrett Celek and James Hanna. Graham gets a TD. |
| Charles Clay | @ CIN | CIN allows the 5th fewest points to TEs but have played none of Clay's caliber |
| Evan Engram | vs. LAC | I like Engram's floor over Ertz's tough matchup this week. |
| Zach Ertz | vs. ARI | A nightmare matchup against the Cardinals drops Ertz to the #6 spot. |
| Cameron Brate | vs. NE | This New England defense is in shambles and Brate is Tampa's primary TE threat. |
| Austin Seferian-Jenkins | @ CLE | The Browns have allowed the 2nd most points to tight ends in 2017. ASJ is the main guy. |
| Hunter Henry | @ NYG | The Giants have allowed the most fantasy points to tight ends in 2017. |
| Benjamin Watson | @ OAK | OAK played NYJ w/o ASJ and WAS w/o Reed. They still allow the 10th most points to TEs. |
| Antonio Gates | @ NYG | The Giants allowed Brate and Howard to finish as Top 5 TE options in Week 4. |
| Martellus Bennett | @ DAL | He has 28 targets already, good for 4th most among TEs. Just needs more efficiency. |
| Delanie Walker | @ MIA | This is strictly betting on Walker's talent. Mariota's absence hurts, but Davis out helps. |
| Jared Cook | vs. BAL | No Derek Carr, but Cook should get targets and BAL allows the 4th most points to TEs. |
| Jesse James | vs. JAC | This is an aggressive ranking, but targets should go away from Ramsey and Bouye. |
| Jason Witten | vs. GB | The Pack allow the 2nd fewest points to enemy tight ends and Witten is ice cold right now. |
| Kyle Rudolph | @ CHI | Sam Bradford looks like he won't go, which means Rudolph is mired in TE2 territory. |
| Zach Miller | vs. MIN | A tight end has caught at least four balls against MIN in every game. Miller gets targets. |
| Ryan Griffin | vs. KC | A solid matchup for Griffin awaits. He has 11 targets over the last two weeks (6 and 5). |
| Tyler Kroft | vs. BUF | A recent neck injury limited Kroft on Wednesday but he is expected to play against BUF. |
| O.J. Howard | vs. NE | I may be too low on Howard, but he hasn't caught more than two balls in any game so far. |
| Eric Ebron | vs. CAR | The other Lions tight end (Darren Fells) outplayed him last week. Ebron is fading fast... |
| Ed Dickson | @ DET | Darius Slay's presence outside helps Dickson's case as a low-end streamer this week. |
| Jack Doyle | vs. SF | The Niners have allowed the fewest points to tight ends so far. I can't invest in him. |
| David Njoku | vs. NYJ | NYJ gives up the 7th fewest points to TEs but Njoku has been making plays. |
| Julius Thomas | vs. TEN | He hasn't cleared three receptions or 29 receiving yards in any game. Disappointing. |
| George Kittle | @ IND | He had five catches in Week 1 but has five catches over the last three weeks. Yikes. |
| Seth DeValve | vs. NYJ | Again, a tough matchup. The Browns could benefit from more two-TE sets, but will they? |
| Jermaine Gresham | @ PHI | A low-end, low-ceiling option. |
| Marcedes Lewis | @ PIT | Another low-end, low-ceiling option. |
| Gerald Everett | vs. SEA | Arguably more upside than a few guys ahead of him, but he isn't getting opportunity either. |
| Dwayne Allen | @ TB | Only makes the list due to Gronk's potential injury. Has zero catches on the season. |
