Reminder: Always double check the lineup card before rosters lock to make sure that a player you've chosen to roster is playing that day, and check the weather to make sure your players won't get rained out of their game.
FanDuel has made some tweaks to their scoring criteria for 2016. Check that out here. FanDuel is also only available to play for money in specific states. See their website for more details to see if FanDuel is playable for cash in your home state.
The pitcher I am targeting today is Matt Shoemaker ($8,500) vs the Royals. The Royals are a bottom third team vs RHP with an 88 wRC+ and .129 ISO, which is second to last. They have an average K% of 20.5%. Shoemaker has an above average 3.99 ERA and 3.29 FIP on the year with a 24% strikeout rate, but has been awesome over his last 12 starts. Shoemaker has a 2.39 ERA, 2.31 FIP and 28% strikeout rate during those 12 starts, with only a 3% walk rate. It also comes with an excellent 15.6% swinging strike rate. There may be some legitimate improvements in skill with Shoemaker as this season has gone along, and his price is affordable.
For hitters, the Cardinals face below average RHP Logan Verrett in Citi Field, which has played closer to hitter friendly than pitcher friendly since the fences were moved in a few years ago. The Cardinals two best hitters vs RHP, Matt Carpenter and Brandon Moss, are on the DL, but there are still some good hitters left. Aledmys Diaz ($2,700) stands out as a strong bargain by the numbers; he has a 150 wRC+ and .224 ISO vs RHP this year and is priced under 3k. Matt Adams ($2,600) is another salary relief option to use against Verrett. Adams has a 114 wRC+ and .245 ISO vs RHP this year. Verrett's ERA isn't bad at 4.14, but it's at just under 5 as a starter as he goes through lineups more than once and he has an ugly FIP of 5.34 on the season.
