Valspar Championship – Expert Picks

Fantasy Golf Picks for Valspar Championship. Players who have had up and down seasons could feast big this week.

Rob Schumacher-USA TODAY Sports

Valspar Championship
When: March 10th - 13th
Where: Innisbrook Resort and Spa Golf Club: Copperhead course
2015 Winner: Jordan Spieth (-10)

The format of this will go: I will select golfers based on the Yahoo format. I will select one A golfer, 2 B golfers and 1 C golfer that I think will do well as well as one dark horse pick, this should space out the selections and provide a vast field to select from for anyone who is in a format where you are limited to 10 starts per year.

Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club: Copperhead Course. At over 7,200 yards, the Copperhead course is LONG. Larry and Rodger Packard created this course in 1974. It is lined with trees lining the long fairways and a littering of ponds and traps throughout.

A:
Justin Thomas. Tied for 6th in Fedex points right now, Justin is off to a good 2016. He's 27th in driving distance and finished 10th here last year in his only appearance at this tournament. He's had an up and down season but should see success here.

B:
Luke Donald. 3 top ten finishes here. He's only missed one cut so far this year but as I've mentioned previously he can't crack the top part of these tournaments as he keeps falling short of the top 25.

Ryan Palmer. 3rd longest drive on the tour. 5 of his last 6 tournaments have yielded top 26 finishes. This will sound weird but he's been a good March golfer in years past. He's only missed one cut in March the last 3 years with quite a few top 25 finishes.

C:
Louis Oosthuizen. When I think of a strong long drive, he is among the top in the game. He has a bad track record here missing the cut 3 of the last 4 times but with his only start this season being a 14th place finish, I'm putting confidence that he plays well this week.

Dark Horse Pick.
Danny Willet. The 8 year vet out of England doesn't play in a lot of PGA events so he's not a big name. He's played in 2 tournaments this year, both were 3rd place finishes. I'm banking on the capability that he finishes in the top 15 here.
