Arnold Palmer Invitational
When: March 17th - 20th
Where: Bay Hill Club & Lodge
2015 Winner: Matt Every (-19)
The format of this will go: I will select golfers based on the Yahoo format. I will select one A golfer, 2 B golfers and 1 C golfer that I think will do well as well as one dark horse pick, this should space out the selections and provide a vast field to select from for anyone who is in a format where you are limited to 10 starts per year.
Bay Hill Club and Lodge: Created by Dick Wilson in 1961, this course challenges golfers with elevation changes, specifically around the greens. The greens run fast and have some strategic bunkers placed around. There is nothing explicitly problematic with the course; however, it does reward strong putters. The course underwent a facelift with new grass and increased bunkers in 2010. The final few holes presents scenic overviews and a chance for golfers to make up some ground with subpar potential.
A:
Adam Scott. Sure Matt Every has won it the last two years and sure Adam Scott finished 35th here last year. Adam Scott is playing as a top 5 player right now. He has 3 top ten finishes with 2 wins. He's 6th in Greens in regulation percentage.
B:
Henrik Stenson. 9th on the tour in strokes gained tee to green which he'll have ample opportunity to do here. He's 26th in greens in regulation and he's finished in the top 30 in 3 of the 4 tournaments he's played in this year. He finished 2nd here last year and 5th here two years ago.
Rory McIlroy. He's warmed up and ready to succeed. He's 4th in strokes gained tee to green, 13th in greens in regulation. He finished 11th here last year.
C:
Brendan Steele. He finished 35th here last year and 20th two years ago. He has yet to miss a cut this year. He's 25th on strokes gained tee to green and 37th in greens in regulation percentage. His game should succeed here.
Dark Horse Pick.
Kiradech Aphibarnrat. He finished in the top 50 in both starts this year. He finished 6th here last year. He's 46th in world golf ranking. He's not played the best in European play so this is a long shot but I feel he can finish in the top 25.
