In this weekly piece I will provide 5 players below 50% owned who should be looked into owning (Breakaways) and 5 players above 50% owned who are struggling (Benders). This doesn't mean you should drop the Benders but maybe they can ride the pine for a week to get their head back in the game. Generally, I am very skittish about dropping anyone above 90% owned unless they have shown 2+ months of really bad play. My rationale for the selections includes some looking through the box scores but a majority of it is with the eye test, watching the games.
5 Breakaways:
Sam Gagner (C/RW, CBJ) 46% owned. I am short term optimistic about Gagne but long term pessimistic. Pick him up for the next 2 weeks and reap the benefits.
Conor Sheary (RW,LW, Pit) 34% owned. He's still on Sidney Crosby's line, he's getting lots of points because of it. Quite simple really.
Anders Lee (LW, NYI) 10% owned. He's off his cold streak and scoring with regularity. Being on John Tavares's line always helps.
Ivon Provorov (D, Phi) 29% owned. He's really starting to get more confident and comfortable on the ice, keeper league should already have him scooped up.
Ryan Miller (G, Van) 43"% owned. This is a good Ryan Miller week, he just let in 6 goals but he's kept most starts reasonable as of late and he's won 3 of his last 5 starts.
5 Benders:
John Van Riemsdyk (LW, Tor) 86%. I would sit him until he finds his scoring touch again, 1 point in the last 5 games.
Seth Jones (D, CBJ) 58% owned. Despite being on an all-star team who is putting up all sorts of points, he has 11 points in 21 games. It will likely be a career year for him points wise but that means 30 points. He also has yet to score a power play point.
Max Domi (C, Ari) 62% owned. Unless you have an open IR spot on your roster, he's not worth sitting on for months.
Jake Muzzin (D, LA) 69% owned. I'm done, too many available better options out there.
Marc-Andre Fleury (G, Pit) 72% owned. Thus it begins, they will continue to favor Murray and he will see fewer and fewer starts.
