Week 9 Tight End Rankings - PPR Leagues

With six teams on the bye, Nick tells you who the best starters are this week.

Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

There are six teams on they bye and this hurts tight ends a lot this week. Last week with six teams on the bye there were not many starters that had to sit the bench, but this week with the likes of Gronk, Reed, Eifert, and even a backup like Bennett out, the pool of tight ends is rather slim. So I am going to go through the limited amount of players and rank who I think are the best plays this week.

BYE WEEKS: Arizona, Chicago, Cincinncati, Houston, New England, Washington.

Rank Player Team Opponent
1 Greg Olsen CAR @LA
2 Travis Kelce KC JAC
3 Jimmy Graham SEA BUF
4 Kyle Rudolph MIN DET
5 Antonio Gates SD TEN
6 Delanie Walker TEN @SD
7 Eric Ebron DET @MIN
8 Gary Barnidge CLE DAL
9 Jason Witten DAL @CLE
10 Jack Doyle IND @GB
11 Coby Fleener NO @SF
12 Dennis Pitta BAL PIT
13 Julius Thomas JAC @KC
14 Lance Kendricks LA CAR
15 Charles Clay BUF @SEA
16 Zach Ertz PHI @NYG
17 Dwayne Allen IND @GB
18 Virgil Green DEN @OAK
19 Jesse James PIT @BAL
20 Clive Walford OAK DEN
21 Richard Rodgers GB IND
22 Vance McDonald SF NO
23 Will Tye NYG PHI
24 Mychal Rivera OAK DEN
25 Larry Donnell NYG PHI

Lance Kendricks - He's getting increasing use in the Rams offense and has started to become a legitimate PPR option. He's had 12 catches in the last two games he's played and one of them has been for a touchdown. With the increasing looks coming his way, he's my top streaming option this week and gets put into my top-15. And he's available in about 80% of leagues.

Dwayne Allen - He's expected to play this week after missing some action with an ankle injury. When Allen is in the game he gets a decent amount of looks in an offense that loves to throw the ball. With your options thinning I think he can be a good play this week.

Clive Walford - Even when his quarterback throws for over 500 yards, Walford only received 31 of them. His use in this offense has dwindled to breadcrumbs. I thought he would have a big year, but this high octane offense has left him out of the picture. He's a risky play this week against Denver even if there are six teams on the bye. I think he'll only get you about four points. I'd stay away.
