We’re looking at another short slate here on FanDuel with 6 teams on bye. Julio and Mike Evans are out thanks to their Thursday Night Football appearance. There are still plenty of values to be had in that FanDuel tournament this weekend, though. Check out a few of my favorite values for Week 9.
Drew Brees $8,600 – New Orleans (-3.5) @ San Francisco, +/- 52.5
‘Value’ doesn’t always mean cheap. With this week’s smaller slate, and a few bad matchups for the cheaper quarterbacks out there, I highly recommend paying a little extra to get Drew Brees in your lineup. No doubt, this will be a popular play. Sometimes, though, things are popular for good reason; everyone has a toothbrush, right? Chip Kelley has certainly put his cloven stamp on this ‘Niners defense, and the one thing the Saints can still do is put up points. With the struggles in the New Orleans backfield, this may end up as one of those epic (AKA Drew-Brees-esque) passing days for Brees.
Terrance West $6,400 – Pittsburgh (-1) @ Baltimore. +/- 43.5
I hope we’ve seen West’s low water mark for the year with his 10 yards rushing in Week 7 against the Jets. After a week of rest, I expect West to get back on track. The Ravens and Steelers always seem to play a pretty tight game, which means plenty of pounding the rock for a Ravens offense that has struggled passing this year.
Tyreek Hill $4,700 – Jacksonville @ Kansas City (-7.5), +/- 44
We’re riding the hot-streak here with perhaps the most appropriate Twitter handle I’ve seen in a while, @ImFasterThanYa. Hill is usually the fastest and quickest player on the field, and the Chiefs are finally working him in to the offensive gameplan. With Alex Smith expected to sit out this week, Nick Foles, clearly the more aggressive downfield passer, will make some pretty sweet music with the rookie speedster.
Kyle Rudolph $5,000 – Detroit @ Minnesota (-6), +/- 41
What tight end is playing against Detroit this week? Ok, play that guy.
Chiefs $5,100 - Jacksonville @ Kansas City (-7.5), +/- 44
Bortles’ stat-line from last week is a case study in why watching the game is so much more important than just tracking the numbers. The Jaguars look terrible this year (do I need qualify with this year?). Andy Reid put together another balanced squad, a team looking the best in their division. KC has no problem running out the clock once they get a lead, keeping the opposing teams offense under wraps even when the Chiefs are comfortably ahead. With their ability to chew the clock, and Bortles’ absolutely atrocious quarterbacking, we may see a big scoring day for this DST.
Will Lutz $4,500 – New Orleans (-3.5), @ San Francisco, +/- 52.5
Lutz is a minimum price kicker slated to play in this week’s 2nd highest over/under contest. I doubt the Saints will have any trouble moving the ball against San Francisco. The only worry here is, will Lutz get any opportunities outside his 6 extra points?
