We’re deep in to the painful bye weeks with another 6 teams taking vacation. Don’t fret, though, there are still plenty of nice plays available on most of the waiver wires out there.
Nick Foles – Jacksonville @ Kansas City (-7.5), +/- 44
Foles looked sharp in relief for the injured Alex Smith. Smith is expected to miss this Sunday’s matchup against the Jaguars, giving Foles a chance to shine in this quarterback-proof Andy Reid offense. Nick Foles is more prone to cut it loose and throw it deep than the ever-conservative Smith, and that is the main reason I like him in this cake matchup against the Jags. The worry here is that the Chiefs get out to a big lead early and salt the game away with their rushing attack. I’ll take that chance this week with so few good options on the wire.
Tyreek Hill - Jacksonville @ Kansas City (-7.5), +/- 44
We’re double-dipping in KC this week, throwing Tyreek Hill in our lineups anywhere we can fit him in. Hill is coming off of two solid outings, finally getting some opportunity to go along with his blazing speed and excellent ball skills. With a quarterback willing to throw it deep, playing a team with one good cornerback, expect another big day from Tyreek.
Alfred Morris – Dallas (-7) @ Cleveland, +/- 48.5
I feel pretty good about the quarterback and receiver recommendations. As always, things are a bit thinner at running back. The hope here is that Dallas will get up big and decide to get Alf some touches and get some rest for Ezekiel Elliot. Against a Cleveland side that hasn’t done much in the way of stopping an opposing offense in any way, I like the odds here.
(PS: Rob Kelley is owned in 31% of leagues. If you can stash him through his bye week, you should.)
Jesse James – Pittsburgh (-1) @ Baltimore, +/- 43.5
If “I’ll just pass, thank you” isn’t an option, you’re stuck hoping Ben Roethlisberger makes a triumphant return, and that Ladarius Green takes a little time to get going. James had a couple serviceable games with Big Ben, and there just aren’t too many other options out there owned in less than 30% of leagues.
Giants – Philadelphia @ New York Giants (-2.5), +/- 43
The Giants have been boom or bust as a DST this year, but they’ll face an Eagles team that, after a fast start, has shown their mortality. Carson Wentz may not be hitting the rookie wall, but defenses now have plenty of tape on the young QB to scheme against. I expect this game to be pretty rush heavy, and I’m leaning hard on the under here.
Will Lutz – New Orleans (-4.5) @ San Francisco 52.5
I’ll keep banking on the Saints kicker. With the Saints favored, in the 2nd highest over/under game on the slate, Lutz is my plug and play kicker.
