You know the drill by now. I will give you some of the top cash game options that I see for the main Sunday slate, and then give a potential cash game lineup using some of those players. This week with 6 teams already having played on Thanksgiving, we have less players to work with, but with some great prices, it doesn’t matter.
Quarterbacks:
Derek Carr ($7,900) - The Raiders offense moved away from the running game that they used against Denver when facing the Texans. This is the type of offense we should expect on a week to week basis. With that offense will come a heavy passing attack led by Carr. With the Panthers secondary playing poorly this year, I have the utmost confidence that Carr will light them up.
Cam Newton ($7,800) - So this season hasn’t quite been what we all expected, but this price point for Cam is just insulting. We are still talking about a great QB who is facing the Raiders secondary that allows teams to throw on them as much as possible. I am not worried about Cam not performing well, as the matchup is one that will help alleviate that risk. Use with confidence here.
Running Backs:
Jay Ajayi ($8,400) - If you aren’t using Ajayi in cash games, then you are doing it wrong. He is reasonably priced for how great he is playing, and has the best matchup you could hope for.
David Johnson ($9,500) - Even at this high of a price he is a great cash game option. The Falcons run defense is nothing to worry about, especially for someone who is as good as David Johnson. Are we really going to sit and not roster him while he goes out and puts up over 125 total yards and at least 1 TD? I know that I won’t be that person.
Lamar Miller ($7,100) - Miller is coming off of a nice game against the Texans defense. This week Miller will have an even easier matchup against the struggling Chargers front. Each of the last four weeks the Chargers have allowed an opposing RB to score a TD on them. If Miller finds the endzone, the volume of carries will do the rest to get him the yards he needs to make value.
Rashad Jennings ($6,600) - It feels a little weird putting in Jennings as a cash game play. With the nice value pricing here and his performance of late, I think Jennings is a very reasonable option for those trying to cut a little bit of cost. The Browns defense gets carved up by any and all backs that it faces this season. There is no reason to think that they are going to start stopping guys now.
Wide Receivers:
Julian Edelman ($6,400) - If Gronk is out this is the same as Ajayi. You can’t expect to do well in cash games without them. If Gronk does play though, I still like Edelman as an option, but it isn’t as clear cut as it would be before. Last week with Gronk out, Edelman was targeted a whopping 17 times. At this low of a price point it will be easy for Edelman to provide value for you while allowing you to pay up elsewhere.
Larry Fitzgerald ($7,200) - This is the one guy you can trust out of the Cardinals receivers. The Falcons defense has been on a free fall as of late, having two games out of there last three where they have allowed 3 or more TD’s to opposing receivers in those games. With Larry being a trusted target everywhere on the field, it isn’t hard to imagine him finishing the game with over 100 yards on 7 receptions and a TD.
Tyler Boyd ($5,600) - A.J. Green is out, which means we have a lot of targets that need to go somewhere. Enter Tyler Boyd who last week was targeted 8 times during Green’s absence from the game. While normally I don’t like playing someone in a situation like this, with his salary being under $6,000, he isn’t going to need to do a lot to make value. If he goes out and catches 6 passes for 80 yards, then he is right there near value.
Tight Ends:
C.J. Fiedorowicz ($5,200) - The TE position is ugly this week, so I am only going to be recommending one guy. In all honesty though this is a crapshoot, as I don’t really like the values or matchups for most of the guys. A healthy Gronk would crush all of them, but we just don’t know his status yet. So that leaves us with a cheaper option that has been getting a steady amount of targets each week. In his last seven games, he has had at least four receptions in all but one where he caught three passes. With Brock’s inability to play like a good QB, he is constantly looking to C.J. to help bail him out.
Kicker:
Josh Lambo ($4,600) - Close to minimum price in about the third highest implied point total game of Sunday.
Defense:
Buffalo Bills ($4,800) - They are facing Blake Bortles and the Jaguars. As we saw with the Lions last week, Bortles and this offense make too many mistakes to not roster the opposing defense.
Cash Lineup:
QB: Derek Carr
RB: Jay Ajayi
RB: David Johnson
WR: Julian Edelman
WR: Larry Fitzgerald
WR: Tyler Boyd
TE: C.J. Fiedorowicz
Kicker: Josh Lambo
D/ST: Buffalo Bills
