Weekly NHL Forecaster 11/14 -€” 11/20

Below is the average of ‘CORSI For' on the Home team and Away team to tell me if this is going to be a shot filled matchup. The graph below is sorted from the most offensively oriented games to the least offensively oriented. To put it in a nutshell, if you want goals scored -€” look at the top teams, if you want to see where your goalie will be seeing few shots and have the best opportunity look to the bottom.

Ten Notes:
1. Pittsburgh not only has an offsenviely charged week but two of their three home games are against porous defenses.

2. Nashville also has three home matches, two of which (Toronto and St. Louis) have allowed the 11th most goals in the NHL.
3. Chicago, who is on a 8-1-1 streak finds two favorable matchups this week against Calgary and Vancouver, both in the bottom 5 in the league.

4. Washington Capitals find themselves in a conflicting week. They have 4 games but they face Columbus twice, Pittsburgh and Detroit, none of who are among the bottom 14 teams in the league.

5. Montreal Canadiens -€” same goes for them, 8 game win streak, they face 4 games this week all middle of the road. They've achieved a lot of their winning through very strong defense. Having played just 2 games this past week they scored 5 goals over those two games. This team should post some favorable +/- at this rate. Additionally -€” they lead the league in goals scored per game on the road and 3 of their 4 games are away.

6.  Dallas, one of the top scoring teams last year, is struggling to score this year. This is corroborated by a tough defensive week against with three road opponents against New Jersey (second fewest goals allowed) while Colorado and Edmonton are both above average in shutting down teams at home.

7. Florida has a bookend week. The first and last games are very difficult against two of the best teams in the league, while the middle two should be considerably easier.

8. San Jose has a very favorable week against three teams who are all in the bottom

9. Tampa Bay has a 4 game week with 3 games being against teams letting in a fair amount of goals. Look for Alex Killorn (43% owned).

10. NY Islanders -€” the only team in the NHL without a road win has two games this week, both on the road, avoid if possible. 7 goals for and 15 goals against.
