Week 5 Tight End Rankings - PPR Leagues

The tight end position very thin this week with four teams on the bye. Nick gives you his TE rankings and who he thinks is the best waiver add of the week.

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

This week’s bye really hurts the tight end position. A lot of starting fantasy TE’s are inactive in Week 5 and in a thinning market it’s important to find a good filler. Last week in my spotlighted players section, all of my picks came through. So this week I’m looking to continue the same success.

BYE WEEKS: Jacksonville, Kansas City, New Orleans, Seattle

Cameron Brate - This is the guy you should add this week if you need a TE off the free agency list. He is available to be picked up in most leagues. Since ASJ has been cut, Brate has had 10 catches for 113 yards and two touchdowns. He has emerged as the second receiving option for Jameis Winston, trailing only Mike Evans in targets. Brate faces the Panthers who are fourth worst in the league at defending the position allowing four touchdowns to the position in the last three weeks. He is a top-10 option this week.

Hunter Henry - I pegged him as the top waiver add for me last week and he produced. This week he jumps into the top-10. San Diego loves to pass and Rivers loves the tight end position. Henry should have another solid week if Antonio Gates is inactive. At this point is looks as if the best case scenario for Gates would be limited participation on Sunday, which is good news for Henry owners. He's no longer a filler for me, he has TE1 potential

Rob Gronkowski - His injury has become extremely annoying for fantasy owners. He's always questionable and then gets activated on Sunday, but never produces. Gronk has said coming into this week that he has improved a lot and I think he will run a lot more than the 13 routes he ran last week. Plus he's gotta be itching to play in this game. Brady is back and he is facing the Browns. It's a dream matchup for him. As Field Yates said earlier this week, "I don't want to be the guy that benches Gronk for one week too long. That's exactly what I'm thinking too. This matchup is too good to pass up, roll the dice on Gronk again because the return could be massive.
