Week 6 Wide Receiver Rankings - Standard Leagues

We are starting to see some normalization in the receivers now. For the top guys, they are starting to round into that form. Players like Antonio Brown, Julio Jones, Mike Evans and other top pick receivers are exactly where they should be. On the other hand, we are starting to get a sense of which top pick receivers just aren't living up to expectations. The poster boy's for this are Golden Tate and Randall Cobb. At this point in the season where you selected a receiver needs to leave your train of thought. You have to change the mindset at this point in the season. We have enough information to know how these offenses are running and who is benefiting. There is no reason in a standard league you shouldn't be starting Sammie Coates over Randall Cobb, even with the performance Cobb had on Sunday night.

This week we aren't losing too much because of bye weeks. The only two guys who were regular starters in all leagues were Mike Evans and Stefon Diggs. For owners who need to find a replacement, check out the rankings below to see who you should be starting over them.

Teams on bye: Minnesota Vikings, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Alshon Jeffery - At some point all of these yards Hoyer is throwing for will benefit Jeffery right? As the top receiver on the team it is only a matter of time before we see Jeffery go back to being that guy we can expect to be around 100 yards a gmae and catch a TD in about half of the games. This week against a bad Jaguars defense I think we see the old Jeffery return.

Sammie Coates - The gameplan is clear with Coates, the Steelers are looking to use him just like they used Martavis Bryant in the past. This makes Coates a top 20 guy each week, as you know Big Ben will take at least 2-3 deep shots to Coates in each game, and at this rate it seems as though Coates will catch one each game. I think it is clear that Coates is a guy you should trust as a WR2, especially in a great matchup against the Dolphins.

Chris Hogan - With Tom Brady throwing the ball just like he has in the past, this leaves plenty of targets to go around for all of his top targets. This includes Edelman, Gronkowski, Bennett, and I think Hogan as well. Hogan appears like he might be turned into more of a deep threat on this Patriots offense. Before Hogan can be a top 30 guy though each week I do need to see this type of production continue. Until then, he becomes a guy who has some upside as a WR3 against the Bengals.

Jeremy Kerley - I stated earlier this week that Kerley was going to be a great waiver wire addition because of how he has played with Blaine Gabbert at QB. Well that appears to not matter anymore as Colin Kaepernick is going to be starting this week versus the Bills. As of right now we don't know what to expect from Kaepernick, but if the preseason is any indication, he should perform as well, if not possibly better than Gabbert did. This is what keeps Kerley as a top 35 guy for me this week. If Kerley is still the number one target on this offense after this week, Kerley has the chance to move up even higher in the rankings in week 7.

Cameron Meredith - Here is where some of those yards are going from Brian Hoyer. Meredith came onto the scene as a virtually unknown guy. With Kevin White on the IR, Meredith was the guy who stepped into his role on the offense. While I loved what I saw out of him last week, the part that keeps me hesitant from ranking him higher than 39th is the presence of Alshon Jeffery. Once we see Jeffery return to his old form, I think that takes directly away from Meredith's production. Even if Jeffery does take some of his production, Meredith is a guy who can be seen as a high upside play as a WR3 during these bye weeks.
