Week 4 FanDuel GPP Value Plays

Values abound for the sports-rich fantasy football obsessed this weekend on FanDuel. Don’t forget to get your chores done Saturday because we’re starting the day off with a London game you won’t want to miss.

We’re starting to get a nice sample size to help us take advantage of great matchup and hidden gems. Take a look at a few of my favorite FanDuel GPP value plays below.

Alex Smith: $6,900 - Kansas City @ Pittsburgh (-5), +/- 47

Smith is only $200 more than Jay Cutler, only $400 more than Kase Kennum. The Steelers are on a 3 game streak of allowing 300 yards or more. For the math fans in the audience you may realize that’s 3 out of 3 games of 300 or more yards passing to opposing QBs to start the season. I understand Smith doesn’t exactly inspire pants ruining enthusiasm, but this is a prime-time matchup with a better than average over/under for the week.

Aside from the excitement of having your quarterback march you up the leaderboard as the Sunday-only slate comes to a close, this play gives you excellent salary relief, and even Smith has a chance to hit that 3x or 4x value at just a hair under $7k.

Jerick McKinnon: $5,800 – New York Giants @ Minnesota (-5), +/- 43

So Jerick McKinnon didn’t pop in his first outing as the lead dog last week against Carolina. He did emerge as the lead back, though, quieting concerns that we’d see Matt Asiata see so much playing time that neither back would be very valuable.

The Vikings defense is one of, if not the, best in the league. With a strong D, we’ve seen relatively conservative play out of Bradford and Co. I’m betting we’ll see short passes to McKinnon emerge as the ‘new’ running game with ole Norville adjusting to life after Peterson. Take advantage of everyone getting burned on Jerick last week and get him in your lineup against the Giants.

Steve Smith: $6,100 – Oakland @ Baltimore (-3.5), +/- 46.5

Smith is heating up coming back from his Achilles injury, and the Ravens are hosting a soft Oakland Raiders defense this weekend. We’ll continue to see Smith’s production ratchet up as, for now, he’s taking frequent breaks after making those same-old-Steve-Smith-type plays. We know this guy has the potential to put up 25 points, and that potential for the bargain-basement cost of $6,100 make Smiff too good to fade.

Jack Doyle: 4,800 – Indianapolis (-2.5) @ Jacksonville [in London], +/- 49

Doyle is edging out Dwayne Allen as the preferred tight end for Andrew Luck. With Doyle taking the lead as the receiving TE, and Donte Moncrief sidelined with an multi-week injury, the time is right to take a chance on Jack.

And, of course, the big story here is that the Colts will face a Jaguars team that looks like the same old Jaguars. This may not be the greatest division in football, but for fantasy, I think we’re in for an early morning AFC South treat.

Minnesota Vikings: $4,700 - New York Giants @ Minnesota (-5), +/- 43

The Vikings are proving themselves as the defense that gives your teams a real edge this season. Averaging nearly 20 FanDuel points per game this year already, they are still priced the same as the Dallas Cowboys this week. We’ll see this DST get more and more pricey as the year goes on. Get on board now while the price is right.

Dustin Hopkins: $4,500 – Cleveland @ Washington (-8), +/- 45.5

Hopkins has posted 11+ points per game so far this season. The Redskins are moving the ball well, but they are struggling to convert yards to touchdowns. Why not pick up the 2nd highest scoring kicker for min-price?
