Goals Against - a low ranking means they let in lots of goals (Calgary is letting in 3.32 goals against per game, they are ranked #1).
Goals for - the lower the ranking the more the team scores (Dallas is scoring the most goals for per game at 3.54 and is the number 1 ranking).
So you want to face a team with a low GA and a high GF. This is based off this seasons goals for and against, it will be updated as the season progresses to be a larger aggregate of this year.

Favorable Offensive Matchups:
Tampa Bay Lightning: They have 3 matchups this week (Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver) and all of them are on the road. With that said, all opponents are in the bottom 8 allowing at least 2.86 goals per game and Edmonton has had a rough patch with both Anders Nilsson and Cam Talbot struggling as of late.
Nashville Predators: 3 games this week, two are on the road. All opponents in the bottom 10 in goals allowed (2.77 goals per game or worse). Winnipeg and Arizona are amongst the four worst in goals allowed. A good week for Filip Forsberg, Roman Josi and Shea Weber to use their excellent shot capabilities.
Carolina Hurricanes: A big week with 4 matchups with 3 on the road but their only back to back game is against Columbus who is struggling both on defense and in net. Other matchups vs. Edmonton and Vancouver bode well for Justin Faulk who is shooting the puck a lot and Victor Rask, the second year talent out of Sweden.
Unfavorable Offensive Matchups:
Ottawa Senators: A split of 2 home and 2 road games shows unfavorable for the "The Generals". While Boston is in the middle of the pack defensively, St. Louis, Florida and Washington are all among the stingiest 5 defensive teams allowing fewer than 2.56 goals per game.
Colorado Avalanche: 4 games, 3 at home and non are back to back. All four opponents are among the stronger half defensively and 2 of them have top 10 save percentages (Jake Allen with STL and Corey Crawford with Chicago)
New Jersey Devils: Another team with a 2 home and 2 road game split. No back to back games is nice but Montreal and Minnesota on the road will be difficult and Detroit and Boston are among the middle of the pack.
Favorable Defensive Matchups:
Chicago Blackhawks: Back to back against Pittsburgh is the first favorable part with Pittsburgh 28th in the league in scoring and working to adapt to Mike Sullivans new system. From their they battle Buffalo (27th in the league scoring 2.32 goals per game) and Colorado who is offensively talented.
Carolina Hurricanes: A potentially strong plus minus week for all Hurricanes as they face 4 teams who are struggling on both sides currently.
Montreal Canadiens: Philadelphia, New Jersey and Pittsburgh with the latter 2 at home. All three are in the bottom 6 in the league in goals scored. The Metropolitan is not representing a strong offensive front this year.
Unfavorable Defensive Matchups:
NY Rangers: They only have 2 games but they face Dallas and Montreal, the two strongest offensive squads in the NHL. This might be a week to consider sitting Henrik Lundqvist.
Philadelphia Flyers: Michael Neuvirth might be having a strong season but they face Montreal, Minnesota and the Islanders who are all in the top ten in goals scored this year.
Washington Capitals: The top defensive unit will be tested this week facing Boston, Islanders and back to back against the Rangers and Ottawa all 4 in the top ten in goals scored. The least of the 4 scores at least 2.74 goals per game this year.
