We're getting back into the swing of things, and some exciting young NBA players are starting to realize their potential.
Time to take notice, DFSers.
Let's begin.
Marcus Smart, BOS, PG ($4700)
Yes, he's shooting 31% from the field this season (which must be some sort of record for futility), but world of puns Marcus Smart is coming off the first triple double in his career. If his 10-11-11 stat line isn't enough for you, he also got 2 steals and 2 blocks. Plagued with inconsistency his entire (admittedly short) NBA career, you gotta plug in this kid tonight to see what he does for an encore. A breakout might have just happened...
Kyle Korver, ATL, SG ($3800)
He's had an inconsistent year, but $3800 for the best non-Curry shooter in the league is still a bargain. He dropped 17 last game - with 3 3PM, 4 REB, 3 AST, 1 STL & 1 BLK. So he might be starting to wake up... He's been really up and down this year, but you won't find this much upside in the 2-guard spot tonight for this price...
Lance Thomas, NY, SF ($3600)
Lance was surprisingly one of the most efficient shooters in the entire NBA for the 2015 portion of this season. So far, his 2016 has been disappointing. He's not playing well right now, but he's a bargain basement price, and his torrid December shows there is upside here... If you're really scrounging for dough today, take a risk here.
John Henson, MIL, PF ($3600)
He's inconsistent, but in 2 of the last 3 games, Henson has gotten at least 5 blocks in a single game! He's coming off a near triple double of 10 points, 7 rebounds and 6 blocks against the Hawks. He's an extremely volatile asset, but when he's on, he's epic. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt tonight. He's super cheap, and starting to put up video game numbers. As a 25-year old in the NBA, his best games are still to come. Tonight could get even better...
Kelly Olynyk, BOS, C ($4300)
Many of the value picks are volatile - but the only way to get a discount is to take the accompanying risk. Kelly is coming off his best game in awhile - which likely means he will be terrible tonight (as that has been his pattern all season). But still, 21 points on 8/16 shooting last game, with 9 boards, 3 steals and a block. Oh, and he hit 4 3PMs. And he's a C. If you catch Kelly on the right night, you've got the best big man production of the day. For the price, I'd plug him in tonight.
So there's a guy at every position that could make some noise for chump change.
But they could also disappear like 2015.
Good segue, right?
Hello?
Is this thing on?
