It's that time of year when Austin Rivers should be back on your Fantasy radar...
Sam Sharpe-USA TODAY Sports

People are starting to bail on their New Year's resolutions.

Don't be one of them.

I'm watching you.

Let's start.

Austin Rivers, LAC, PG ($4000)

Dropped 16 points 2 games ago, 26 3 games ago. Only scored 6 last game, 16 PPG over the last 3 games is obviously upside. Volatile asset, but appears to be in the zone right now. For $4000, I think he's worth the risk today...

Jamal Crawford, LAC, SG ($3800)

You probably don't want to take both Rivers and Crawford, but one of them will likely go off today. Age is catching up to Jamal these days, but he dropped 19 last game. Very unpredictable from day to day, but he can still score sporadically. Big number potential on any given day is the strategy here for DFS. Crawford fits in nicely for the price...

Paul Pierce, LAC, SF ($4100)

I have never recommended 3 players from the same team on any DFS article this year, but I'm about to do just that. Paul Pierce has had a mini reboot of sorts - dropping 17 points and 5 3PM the other day. He's volatile, but he also dropped 20 points and 5 3PM 6 games ago. If you catch him on the right day, you've got a great asset. He could fall apart, but this is a future HOFer - so we all know what P2 can do... If you need to save dough, I'd give him a try.

Dwight Powell, DAL, PF ($3900)

Had the best NBA game of his life the other day. 13 points, 10 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks. He followed it up with a stinker, but there is clearly upside here. He's a rookie (technically anyway) - and his minutes fluctuate wildly from game to game - but he can produce when he gets run. If he gets minutes today, he could have sneaky upside... Only costs $3900 to find out...

Nikola Pekovic, MIN, C ($4600)

I'm gonna say something stupid, and recommend Pekovic. His chronic injury issues are well-documented, but Pek averaged 17.4 points and 8.7 rebounds per game only 2 years ago. In his season debut the other day, he scored 12 points in 16 minutes. He's a BIG RISK, but this is a proven NBA commodity. Nobody really knows how healthy he is, but I believe he's better than people are giving him credit for... This is only for extreme risk-takers, but my hunch says Nikola is flying under the radar. Could break out today. Risky play, but very intriguing...

So there's 5 deals at every position.

Lots of risk/volatility today, but that's part of the game when you're saving bucks...

So are you gonna hit the gym today or what?

You signed up for a year.

So embarrassing...
