Week 1 WR Rankings - Standard Leagues

Your WR rankings for the first week of the NFL season.

Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports

The first week of the NFL season is going to start tomorrow night, so it is time to prepare your lineups to start out with a win. Each week I will be providing WR rankings for standard leagues. For the first week here, and the next few, matchups won't play a big factor. This is because we need a little bit of a sample size to get a good indication of which defenses have improved, and which have gotten worse from last year. Once the season continues on though the rankings will start to change more based on matchups. Now to the rankings, and some commentary on a few guys.

Julio Jones - No offense to the ultra consistent Antonio Brown, but this Falcons Eagles game will be high scoring. I see Julio going for 100 yards and 2 scores against that Eagles defense, and that puts him at number one for the week.

Jeremy Maclin - The Chiefs get the Texans for there first matchup, and seeing how Maclin was used in the preseason, it is hard to sit him in what looks like a nice matchup.

John Brown - I think Rob Ryan is a bad defensive coordinator, and that should help out Brown get a deep score in this game. Still a slight risk with the other receiving options on the team, but I see Brown as clearly the better player, and having a better chance of losing his defender. Makes for a nice Tourney play in DFS.

Jarvis Landry - I need to see DeVante Parker fully healthy in a game to rank him higher, but until then, Landry makes a nice FLEX option or WR3 for you to use. He should get a nice volume of targets against Washington, and there poor secondary.

WR's 36-41 - These guys are really all the same to me this week, and if you want to argue one over the other, I won't have a problem with it. They are all similar guys in similar situations. Boldin has the best chance of getting more usage due to the Niners probably being down early in this game. Colston last among these guys as I could see him not being a hundred percent quite yet.

Terrance Williams - Sneaks into the top 50 this week due to them playing the Giants. I see the Cowboys throwing the ball more this year, and Williams does have a chance of catching a long TD in this game. A risky play that you can use if desperate.
