Week three of the regular season is fast approaching, and there are two types of fantasy owners heading into this week's action. There are some who have experienced great success with their line-ups and are hoping that nothing changes moving forward. The other group is hoping the winds of change turn in their favor this Sunday.
I’m not sure what group I fall into, probably the group that is waiting for Mike Evans to catch a pass this season. Regardless of where you fall, nothing can change your team’s fortune faster than an injury to a key player. Just ask those owners who drafted Tony Romo and Dez Bryant.
Injuries are never a good thing, (we are talking about real people here) but with each injury opportunity inevitably rise’s somewhere else. That’s the name of the game this week. Here is your week three injury roundup.

Status |
Game Time |
VIctor Cruz, WR (Calf)
Cruz stepped foot on to the Giants practice field for the first time this season in a limited fashion on Tuesday. He is probably not going to be ready for Thursday's game, but a good sign nonetheless. |
Questionable | Thur 8:25 |
DeSean Jackson, WR (Hamstring)
Jackson did not practice on Thursday after suffering a severe hamstring injury week one. It is save to say that he will miss Thursday's game against the Giants. |
Questionable | Thur 8:25 |
Andre Ellington, RB (Knee)
Ellington missed week 2, and has not returned to practice. He will be held out again this Sunday. Chris Johnson is in line to receive the bulk of the carries this week, but David Johnson well be given a bigger role gradually after making a case for himself in week 2. |
Out | Sun 4:05 |
Tevin Coleman, RB (Rib)
Coleman well be out a few weeks after leaving Sundays game against the Giants early with a rib injury. Devonta Freeman is going to get his chance to start for the first time this season after being considered the starter all throughout training camp. |
Out | Sun 1:00 |
Devin Hester, WR (Toe)
No update on Hester's status so far this week. |
Inactive |
Sun 1:00 |
Jay Cutler, QB (Hamstring)
Jay Cutler is injured and wont play in week 3 against the Seahawks. Jimmy Clausen will get the start against an already great defense that just got Cam Chancelor back. It will be a bad week to be a Bears fan (more so than usual). |
Out | Sun 4:25 |
Alshon Jefferey, WR (Calf/Hamstring)
Jeffery missed week 2, and there has been no update as of yet to his status in week 3.
|
Out |
Sun 4:25 |
Demarco Murray, RB (Hamstring)
Literally as I was writing this reports came saying that Murray injured his hamstring in practice. Murray led the league in rushing yards last season with well over 300 carries. Update: Demarco Murray is officially out for week 3 |
Out |
Sun 1:00 |
Josh McCown, QB (Concussion)
McCown missed last week giving second year quarterback Johnny Manziel a chance to prove he can win in the NFL, and he did. Now McCown is back and he has been named the starter. I get the feeling that the Brown's are giving the McCown the chance to answer with a solid performance. This may not be a make or break week, but a good outing certainly wouldn't hurt him. Luckily his match up is a good one verses the Raiders. |
Active | Sun 1:00 |
Tony Romo, QB (Broken Collarbone)
Romo has been placed on short term IR which means he will be missing from action for 8 weeks. Brandon Weeden has been named the starter for week 3, and the Cowboys acquired Matt Cassel in a trade with the Bills. I would expect Cassel to take over as soon as he learns the offense. |
Out | Sun 1:00 |
Dez Bryant, WR (Foot)
Bryant will probably be out till at least week 11 with a broken foot. How bout them Cowboys. |
Out | Sun 1:00 |
Jason Witten, TE (Alot of Stuff)
Witten is reportedly dealing with two sprained ankles and a sprained knee that he sustained in week 2. His status is uncertain but Witten seems to be confident that he will play.
|
Active | Sun 1:00 |
Matthew Stafford, QB (Ribs)
Stafford took a beating this past week, so it is no surprise that he is showing up with an injury. However, Stafford is known for being tough and his teammates expect him to play. |
Probable | Sun 8:30 |
Eddie Lacy, RB (Ankle)
Lacy left the game early in his week 2 match up against Seattle and did not return. If Lacy is not cleared to play then James Stark will be starting in his place. It is believed right now that there will be a time share between the two in week 3.
|
Questionable | Mon 8:30 |
Arian Foster, RB (Groin)
Foster returned to practice this week, and while many fans are hoping for the stars return it's not looking likely for week 3.
|
Out |
Sun 1:00 |
Dwayne Allen, TE (Ankle)
Allen left early against the Jets because of an ankle injury, and he is listed as day to day.
|
Out | Sun 1:00 |
Jordan Cameron, TE (Groin)
Cameron left the game early with a groin injury in week 2 and did not return.
|
Out | Sun 1:00 |
Lamar Miller, RB (Ankle)
No update yet on Millers injury status for week 3.
|
Active |
Sun 1:00 |
Reggie Bush, RB (Calf)
Bush sat week 3 out, but he believes he will be back on the field this weekend. The 49ers haven't released any info as of yet on his status for week 3.
|
Out | Sun 4:05 |
Carlos Hyde, RB (Thigh Contusion)
Hyde is apparently practicing today so that is good news for the running back, and fantasy owners. |
Questionable | Sun 4:05 |
Todd Gurley, RB (Knee)
Gurley is listed as a game time decision. The Rams have already proven that they are not looking to rush Gurley from coming back from his ACL injury. I would keep an eye on Gurley, but he should be nothing more than a bench stash until he plays his first game and gives a glimpse of his potential.

Active |
Sun 1:00 |
Delaine Walker, TE (Hand)
Walker was a full participant in Wednesday's practice his status looks good.
|
Active |
Sun 1:00 |
DeAndre Hopkins, WR (Concussion)
Hopkins is setting out of Wednesday's practice due to a concussion. More to follow.
