Well, another week down and another kickoff Sunday is in the books. Fantasy owners learned a lot about their teams last week, and if you are like me, then you’re hoping for some good fortune from the injury cookie this week. Personally, I didn’t learn much about my team last week thanks to injuries, suspensions, and really good defense (I hope). I did, however, learn a little bit about myself.
First, I should never decide a replacement for an injured starter in a late game, 20 minutes before game time, with the bottle cap from my 6th beer. Second, I should eat more in between beers. To say that things didn’t go my way this week isn’t entirely true. My kicker lived up to his reputation. He also was the second highest point getter on my team, so that was fun.
It’s a new day, though. The Thursday match ups are knocking on the door, and Sunday will be here before you know it, so with that being said. Here is your Week 2: Injury Roundup.
Player Name |
Status |
Game Time |
Peyton Manning, QB (Back) It's not uncommon to see Manning show up on an injury report, but because of his importance and age its always significant to keep an eye on. Manning was a full participant in Monday and Tuesday practices. |
Probable | Thu 8:25 |
C.J. Anderson, RB (Ankle/Toe) Anderson was limited in Tuesdays practice after not participating on Monday. It's usually a good sign when a player is taking limited reps early in the week, but if for some reason Anderson can't suit up Ronnie Hillman will be a good handcuff to have for week 2. |
Probable | Thu 8:25 |
Demaryius Thomas, WR (Hand) Full participant in practice on Monday and Tuesday. Thomas looks fine. |
Probable | Thu 8:25 |
Jeremy Maclin, WR (Back) Maclin saw limited reps on Monday, but was back in action on Tuesday as a full participant in practice. |
Probable | Thu 8:25 |
Travis Kelce, TE (Hip) Kelce has been a full participant all week at practice. There is not reason to believe he will miss time this week. |
Probable | Thu 8:25 |
Andre Ellington, RB (Knee) This probably comes as no surprise to fantasy owners, but Andre Ellington has a PCL sprain and will be out 2-3 weeks. Chris Johnson will take over lead back duties, but David Johnson has some upside as well. If the later Johnson can get some reps he might be able to make it hard on coaches to sit him when Ellington returns.
|
Out | Sun 1:00 |
Josh McCown, QB (Concussion) Josh McCown superman'd that h..ead injury when he attempted a goal line dive head first between two defenders in week one. The Browns haven't released an official injury report, but It is safe to call this one questionable. If he doesn't play then Johnny Manziel might have some upside this week against the Titans.
|
OUT | Sun 1:00 |
Dwayne Bowe, WR (Hamstring) There is no official word from the Browns, so until then I'm calling him questionable. If your fantasy rosters success is leaning on Dwayne Bowe you have bigger issues than his hamstring anyways.
|
ACTIVE | Sun 1:00 |
Dez Bryant, WR (Foot) I guess all that stomping around and pouting over money this off season did more damage than good. Bryant broke his foot during the Cowboys week one match up against the Giants. He will be out 4-6 weeks. For all of you Dez Owners, you might be able to pick up Colt Beasley, or Devin Street off the waiver wire.
|
Out | Sun 4:25 |
T.Y. Hilton, WR (Knee) Good News: Fantasy owners can breath knowing that an MRI of Hilton's knee showed zero structural damage. His playing status for this week is still unknown as he is listed day to day, but he will not be missing extended time. Bad News: Hilton plays on Monday, so if his playing status is not clarified by Saturday I would begin considering other options before the Monday night game rolls around and you are stuck with no one to replace him with.
|
Questionable | Mon 8:30 |
LeGarrette Blount, RB (Suspension) Blount is returning from his one game suspension this week. |
Returning | Sun 1:00 |
C.J. Spiller, RB (Knee) Spiller is still considered questionable to return this week until we know more from the Saints organization.
|
ACTIVE |
Sun 1:00 |
Victor Cruz, WR (Calf) Cruz was held out last week by a calf injury he sustained during the preseason, and he is still recovering from the surgery he had after hurting his knee last season. If Cruz is not 100% I don't see the Giants rushing his return.
|
OUT | Sun 1:00 |
Derek Carr, QB (Hand) An MRI showed that the second year quarterbacks hand is nothing more than a bruise. |
ACTIVE | Sun 4:05 |
Reggie Bush, RB (Calf) Reggie Bush left Sundays game against the Vikings early with a calf strain. Nothing more is known about Bush's status on Sunday. If Bush doesn't suit up then Jarred Hayne will be an interesting flex option as he will be the primary back up for Carlos Hyde. Hayne will not threaten to take away carries from Hyde, but he does have potential to break free on big runs as well as pick up extra yardage on punt returns.
|
OUT |
Sun 1:00 |
Tre Mason, RB (Hamstring) Benny Cunningham did pretty well in Mason's absence on Sunday, and if Mason cannot suit up again expect Cunningham to be carrying the ball some more.
|
ACTIVE | Sun 1:00 |
Todd Gurley, RB (Knee) The Rams have been hinting that Gurley could be back this week. Its certainly something to keep an eye on, but I suspect that the Rams are using a little smoke and mirrors here to keep the Redskins guessing as to which running back will suit up Sunday. Ultimately I'm expecting Tre Mason to suit up.
|
OUT | Sun 1:00 |
Mike Evans, WR (Hamstring) Mike Evans didn't play on Sunday, and my fantasy team missed his production dearly. Coach Lovie Smith said that Evans is improving, but there is still no word on his week 2 status. Luckily Tampa Bay has an early game this week so it gives fantasy owners a little more breathing room should this go down to the wire (again).
|
ACTIVE | Sun 1:00 |
Delanie Walker, TE (Hand) Walker injured his hand late in Sundays game against the Buc's, and was seen after the game with a cast on it. Reports are that there is no broken bone, but if for some reason Walker does not play this week Anthony Fassano will start in his place.
|
OUT | Sun 1:00 |
DeSean Jackson, WR (Hamstring) Jackson injured his hamstring while chasing down a deep pass from Kirk Cousins on Sunday. It's not looking good for Jackson's return this week. Pierre Garcon will likely see an overwhelming share of attention in an underwhelming offense this Sunday.
|
OUT | Sun 1:00 |
Alshon Jeffery, WR (Hamstring) | OUT | Sun 1:00 |
LeSean McCoy, RB (Hamstring) | ACTIVE | Sun 1:00 |
Percy Harvin, WR | ACTIVE | Sun 1:00 |
Jordan Reed, TE (Quad) | ACTIVE | Sun 1:00 |
