There are 15 MLB games on FanDuel's Sunday slate . The first games begin at 1:05pm with the last one beginning at 8pm eastern. Please be sure to check your lineups and of course check the weather to make sure your players are actually playing tonight.
There are plenty of opportunities on Sunday's slate and here's what I'm thinking about.
Pitching
Today is a good day to pay for pitching and these are the 4 pitchers I'm considering paying for on Sunday.
Chris Sale ($12,500) has been awesome over the past month and he has a nice matchup with the Twins on Sunday. Sale is averaging just over 13 strikeouts per nine over his last 5 starts with 12 earned runs over 41.2 innings pitched. The Twins have a 20 percent strikeout rate against lefties with a .314 wOBA and wRC+ of 97.
Over his last 6 starts Greinke ($12,000) is 5-1 with just 8 earned runs in 48 innings pitched with about a walk and less than a bomb per nine innings pitched. The Diamondbacks have had a hot month with a strikeout rate of 18 percent with a .345 wOBA and wRC+ of 115. It's very hard to go wrong Sunday with Greinke.
Max Scherzer ($10,500) has a nice matchup with the Marlins on Sunday. He's given up 20 earned runs over his last 28 innings pitched with a 0-3 record but has struck out almost 11 hitters per nine over that same 5 start span. The Marlins are striking out about 19 percent of the time with a .292 wOBA and wRC+ of 81. This one looks like it's worth the price for Scherzer on Sunday.
Francisco Liriano ($10,500) is 3-1 over his last 5 starts with 15 earned runs in 37.1 innings pitched. He's averaging 8.66 strikeouts, nearly 5 walks and less than 1 bomb during that stretch with a 4.41 xFIP. The Brewers have a strikeout rate of 21 percent against lefties with a .296 wOBA and wRC+ of 81.
All four are great but I'm leaning towards starting Liriano on Sunday.
Stacking Opportunities for Sunday
Mets lefties against the Braves rookie Ryan Weber are a great possibility with Michael Conforto ($3,000) ,Kelly Johnson ($2,600) and Lucas Duda ($3,400) being the primary inexpensive left-handed bats.
Tampa Bay Rays right handed bats Evan Longoria ($3,400), Logan Forsythe ($3,600), Asdrubel Cabrera ($3,300) and Mikie Mahtook ($2,700) are all solid plays against the Red Sox Rich Hill.
Seattle Mariners lefties Seth Smith ($2,400), Logan Morrison ($2,900) and Robinson Cano ($3,100) against the Rockies Kyle Kendrick should work well on Sunday.
Value Picks for Sunday
Josh Reddick ($2,400) of the Oakland A's has a nice matchup with the Rangers Chi Chi Gonzalez. Reddick has a wOBA of .351 and wRC+ of 127 against righties this season.
Good luck tonight Fantasy Baseball owner!!
