There are 14 MLB games on FanDuel's Tuesday slate . The first games begin at 7:05pm with the last ones at 10:10pm. Please be sure to check your lineups and of course check the weather to make sure your players are actually playing tonight.
There are some very good matchups on tonight's FanDuel slate. DFS is all about selecting pitchers with high strikeout capabilities, low earned runs and of course getting a win at the end of the night. DFS is also about getting value so let's look at the top tier pitching for Tuesday.
We have several pitchers at the top tier that are capable of bringing home the bacon like Chris Sale ($12,800), Madison Bumgarner ($12,700), Zack Greinke ($12,000), Johnny Cueto ($10,900) and Gerrit Cole ($10,000).
Every single one of these pitchers are solid but if I'm going to spend money and get strikeouts, low ERA and a win I'm going to pay up and go with Chris Sale against the Twins. Over the season the Twins have struck out 20 percent of the time they face lefties and over the past 14 days have a 26 percent strikeout rate with a wRC+ 104. Over his past 5 starts Sale is averaging nearly 14 strikeouts per nine with a 2.49 xFIP. The others are all good choices but Sale is the best chance for strikeouts, earned runs and of course getting a win on Tuesday.
There is another interesting option and that is the Tigers Justin Verlander ($8,500) against Johnny Cueto and the Royals. Over his past 5 starts Verlander is striking out 9 hitters per nine with less than 2 walks and an xFIP of 3.52 against a Royals team with a 15 percent strikeout rate and a wRC+ of 103 against righties this season. It may take some doing to get a win against Cueto but if Verlander can continue doing what he's been doing over the past 5 outings this could be a nice play on Tuesday.
Offenses to Stack
If you decide to go with Sale you can still stack the Mets moderately priced left handed bats of Curtis Granderson ($3,300), Michael Conforto ($2,700) and Kelly Johnson ($2,300) against the Phillies Aaron Harang and his woeful wOBA of .358 against lefties.
I also like Yankee left-handed bats against the Red Sox Rick Porcello with Brian McCann ($4,300), Greg Bird ($3,000), Brett Gardner ($3,200), Jacoby Ellsbury ($3,400) and maybe even Carlos Beltran ($3,600) against the .373 wOBA and .514 slugging percentage lefties have tagged Porcello with this season. In order to do this one you'll need to start Verlander or another less expensive option.
Value Picks for Tuesday Evening.
If you are going to go with Sale you are going to need some value so here are a few suggestions for you tonight.
Darin Ruf ($2,300) has a favorable matchup with the Mets Jonathon Niese. Ruf has hit 2 bombs against Niese this season and usually bats 6th in the Phillies lineup against lefties.
Todd Frazier ($2,600) is still in the bargain bin and as long as he's there it's hard to pass up on the huge upside he offers. Frazier has a .364/.364/.818/.1.182 lifetime line against the Marlins Dan Haren and has been batting 5th against righties in the Reds lineup.
Adam Jones ($3,200) does one thing really well; he destroys lefties and he'll have another opportunity to do just that against the Rays Drew Smyly. Jones has taken Smyly deep in the past and at that price it's hard not to put him in the lineup on Tuesday.
