Week 17 of the Fantasy Baseball season is coming to a close. If starting pitching is what you need this week I have some streaming options for you to consider.
Aaron Nola
Aaron Nola and the Philadelphia Phillies are in San Diego for a Friday night game against the Padres. Over his last 3 starts Nola has a 2-1 record with a 3.38 ERA with 15 strikeouts, 3 walks and 4 bombs in 18.2 innings pitched. Excellent 0.96 WHIP and .220 BABIP with a 4. 75 WHIP and much better 3.18 xFIP. He'll face a Padres team with a 22 percent strikeout rate against righthanders to go along with an interesting .125 ISO, .267 BABIP, .275 wOBA, wRC+ of 74 and a slash line against righthanders of .243/.296/.382/.698. It doesn't get much better than Nola on Friday.
Daniel Norris and the Detroit Tigers host the Boston Red Sox in a Friday night game. Norris has only one start this season and is 1-0 with a 1.23 ERA with 5 strikeouts, 1 walk and 1 bomb in 7.1 innings pitched. Excellent 0.68 WHIP and 1.58 BABIP with a 3.91 FIP and xFIP of 3.87. The Red Sox slash a .250/.314/.389/.703 line against lefties with a 22 percent strikeout rate, .145 ISO, .297 BABIP, wOBA of .321 and a wRC+ of 98. Think strikeouts here Fantasy Baseball owner.
Saturday
Nathan Karns and the Tampa Bay Rays play host to the New York Mets in a Saturday evening matchup. Over his last 4 starts Karns has posted a 2-1 record with a 4.23 ERA on 9 strikeouts, 4 walks and 4 bombs in 22.1 innings pitched. Excellent 0.99 WHIP and .223 BABIP with an average 4.52 FIP and much better 4.10 xFIP. He'll face a rebuilt Mets offense that over the past 7 days has slashed a .246/.310/.471/.781 line with a 21 percent strikeout rate, .115 ISO, .275 BABIP, wOBA of .287 and wRC+ of 82. The Mets have gotten better but Karns should get a pile of strikeouts on Saturday.
Kyle Hendricks and the Chicago Cubs host the San Francisco Giants in a Saturday afternoon contest. Hendricks is 1-1 over his last 4 starts with a 4.18 ERA on 24 strikeouts, 8 walks and 2 bombs over 23.2 innings pitched. Average 1.27 WHIP and .303 BABIP with an extremely good 3.30 FIP and even better xFIP of 2.80. He'll face a Giants team slashing a .276/.331/.427/.759 line against righthanders with a 22 percent strikeout rate, .166 ISO, .284 BABIP, wOBA of .314 and wRC+ of 101. This one might be a tough one but strikeouts is what you should look for if you stream Hendricks on Saturday.
Sunday
Jimmy Nelson and the Milwaukee Brewers host the St Louis Cardinals in a Sunday afternoon contest. Over his past 4 starts Nelson is 3-0 with a 1.00 ERA on 25 strikeouts, 10 walks and zero bombs in 27 innings pitched. Super 0.96 WHIP and .225 BABIP with an excellent 2.46 FIP and very good 3.56 xFIP. The Cardinals slash a .264/.327/.402/.729 line against righthanders with a 18 percent strikeout rate, .108 ISO, .317 BABIP, wOBA of .312 and wRC+ of 98. Nelson is hot right now and I look for that to continue on Sunday against the Cardinals.
Mike Fiers and the Houston Astros travel to Oakland to take on the Athletics in a Sunday afternoon contest. Fiers is 1-2 over his last 4 starts with a 4.13 ERA on 26 strikeouts, 8 walks and 4 bombs in 24 innings pitched. Decent 1.13 WHIP and good .250 BABIP with an average 4.23 FIP and better xFIP of 3.83. The Athletics slash a .253/.309/.388/.698 line 17 percent strikeout rate, .163 ISO, .283 BABIP, wOBA of .336 and wRC+ of 115. Fiers should post good numbers in most of the scoring categories on Sunday.
