Baseball America publishes midseason Top 50 prospect rankings

The annual tradition continues as Baseball American published their midseason top 50 prospect rankings yesterday, with a Dodger leading the list.

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

Yesterday, Baseball America published their midseason Top 50 Prospect Rankings for 2015, and the Dodgers dominated the upper portion of the list, although one is probably not really a "prospect". Dodgers shortstop prospect Corey Seager headed the list, but if the list appears thin, it is, as there have been countless promotions of the top prospects already this season, and the list does not include any of the 2015 MLB Draft prospects nor amy of the recent July 2nd International prospects.

With all that said, here is the Baseball American midseason top 10 prospects:

1. Corey Seager, Dodgers

2, Lucas Giolitp, Nationals

3. Joey Gallo, Rangers

4. Julio Urias, Dodgers

5. J.P. Crawford, Phillies

6. Kyle Schwarber, Cubs

7. Tyler Glasnow, Pirates

8. Orlando Arcia, Brewers

9. Trea Turner, Nationals

10. Alex Reyes, Cardinals

Other rankings of note:

11. Yoan Moncada, Red Sox

16. Hector Olivera, Dodgers

20. Jose De Leon, Dodgers

With Carlos Correa, Francisco Lindor, and others recently called up, the top 50 list has thinned out, but that will change in their offseason Top 100 Rankings.

I have to say I was surprised with the high ranking of Nationals shortstop prospect Trea Turner, who came to the Nationals in the trade that sent Steven Souza to the Rays and Wil Myers to the Padres.

Dodgers infield prospect Hector Olivera is 30 years old, so it seems weird to see him on this list, but he should be up with the big league team at some point this season.
