Reminder: Always double check the lineup card before rosters lock to make sure that a player you've chosen to roster is playing that day, and check the weather to make sure your players won't get rained out of their game.
Pitcher: Corey Kluber vs Houston Astros, $11,000
Based on FanDuel scoring criteria, it's a good idea to target a pitcher who will rack up a lot of strikeouts and be in good position to get the 4 point win. That's Corey Kluber today. The Astros are a potent offense, so blowup risk is always there, but they are extremely strikeout prone vs RHP. I like Kluber the most in today's game because of the strikeout potential and the winnable matchup. The other top options, Max Scherzer and Johnny Cueto, face each other. Francisco Liriano and Tyson Ross face each other, and Sonny Gray pitches in Yankee Stadium. Kluber pitches at home against Vincent Velasquez, a pitcher projected by ZiPS to have an ERA over 5 the rest of the season.
Kluber's K% is just under 30% and his FIP is an elite 2.45, and now that Francisco Lindor is playing SS, he will have better defenders behind him to help get his ERA closer to his FIP. Combine Kluber's 30% K% with Houston's 26% K% vs RHP and that's a recipe for a high strikeout outing.
3B- Matt Carpenter vs Dallas Beeler, $3,100
Carpenter has a 151 wRC+ in 232 PA vs RHP this year and a 140 wRC+ in a larger sample of 1200 PA dating back to the start of 2013. Beeler has a 4.56 FIP in 58 triple A IP this year. Carpenter is the 13th priced 3B, providing excellent value and salary relief to invest elsewhere.
OF- Josh Reddick vs Nathan Eovaldi, $2,800
Reddick has hit RHP to an elite 161 wRC+ in 237 PA this year. He gets a huge park upgrade as a lefty in Yankee Stadium and faces a pitcher with a below average 4.26 FIP vs LHB this year.
SS- Troy Tulowitzki vs Andrew Heaney, $4,400
I don't want to use data on Tulo pre hip surgery because it may be misleading, but he has smoked LHP in recent years, and mostly importantly, 2015. Tulo has a 183 wRC+ in 296 PA vs LHP dating back to 2013, and it's about the same this year at 182 in a small sample of 65 PA. The matchup is in Coors Field. Tulo is pricey, but worth it against the LHP in Denver.
(Another) Dodgers LHB stack vs Chad Billingsley
I recommended yesterday to stack the Dodgers against the significantly below average Sean O'Sullivan and I am recommending it again today. In fact, I recommend the Dodgers quite often, usually because their pricing rarely reflects their skill level against RHP. They're constantly undervalued, especially hitters like Andre Ethier. The Dodgers are the #1 team vs RHP, and using them against below average RHP is usually a recipe for success. The sample size for numbers on Billingsley this year is very, very small, so instead I'll use a ZiPS projection, which projects a poor 4.46 ERA the rest of the way for Billingsley. These are the best Dodger hitters to chose from; all of them have wRC+'s north of 140 this year against RHP, and three of them are over 150, which is elite:
OF- Andre Ethier ($2,300)
1B- Adrian Gonzalez ($2,900)
C- Yasmani Grandal ($3,000)
OF- Joc Pederson ($3,300)
