Reminder: Always double check the lineup card before rosters lock to make sure that a player you've chosen to roster is playing that day.
3B- Adrian Beltre vs. Danny Duffy, $2,700
Beltre's price has fallen because of bad outcomes, but the process behind his outcomes doesn't line up with the poor results. Specifically, Beltre has been squaring up the ball quite often with a 20% hard hit rate, which is well above average. It appears that the main cause for his drop in results is a BABIP 90 points lower than it has been his last 3 seasons. Better days are ahead for him, and he has crushed LHP in recent years. Since 2013, Beltre has 372 PA vs LHP and is hitting them to a 153 wRC+ with 14 HR. Duffy's large platoon split amplifies Beltre's chances at production.
P- Gerrit Cole vs. Philadelphia Phillies, $9,000
As of Sunday, the Phillies have the lowest team isolated slugging (.100) and wRC+ (57) in MLB vs RHP. Part of this is because Chase Utley is running a very unsustainable low BABIP at .101, but it doesn't change the fact that their lineup is mostly hideous. ESPN scouting expert Keith Law tweeted this out the other night:
Oh my God I just saw the lineup the Phillies ran out there today. Two major league regulars and neither of them that good.
— keithlaw (@keithlaw) May 10, 2015
That lineup was without Ryan Howard and Utley, but neither of those players are projected to be above average the rest of the way. As far as I can tell, no Phillies regular is projected by ZiPS to be an above average hitter the rest of the season. Gerrit Cole is a stud, and he's 7th on FanDuel's pricing list for P today, which doesn't reflect his talent level or stat line. Cole's 2.27 ERA, 2.63 FIP, 2.60 xFIP, 27% K% and 11% swinging strike% are all elite, and I'm not quite sure why he isn't priced higher. He will be a good bet to go 6+ innings with high strikeout totals and strong run prevention, and will be in solid position to pick up the 4 point win against arguably the worst team in baseball.
1B- Freddie Freeman vs. Mike Leake, $3,900
Freeman travels to Great American Ballpark, which has been one of the top 5 most HR friendly ballparks for LHB the last few seasons. Freeman destroys RHP; in just over 1000 PA vs them since 2013, Freeman has the 7th highest wRC+ in baseball at 157. Leake is a below average pitcher against LHB, which makes Freeman a strong threat.
Dodgers LHB vs. Tom Koehler
In about 182 IP vs LHB since 2013, Tom Koehler has a 3.85 ERA, 4.19 FIP and 4.34 xFIP, all below average. The Dodgers have some LHB with good numbers vs RHP: Yasmani Grandal is priced sixth at C at $3,000, and he's hit RHP to a 130 wRC+ in his career with it at 172 in 2015. Andre Ethier ($2,800) is a career 139 wRC+ hitter vs RHP with it at 172 in 2015.
