Reminder: Always double check the lineup card before rosters lock to make sure that a player you've chosen to roster is playing that day.
P- Collin McHugh vs. San Diego Padres, $8,500
These are Collin McHugh's numbers since last year: 173 IP, 2.70 ERA, 2.96 FIP, 25% K%. He's quietly developing into an ace. His 1.74 FIP leads the American League so far in 2015. He's facing a RHB heavy Padres lineup tomorrow, and McHugh has dominated RHB since last year, posting a 30.7% K% and 2.84 FIP vs them in '14 and a 29% K% and 1.59 FIP in '15. The fact that the game is being played under NL rules and in PetCo is also a big positive. McHugh is pitching like an ace, and he's being priced much lower than that. He's my favorite play for pitchers tomorrow considering the cost.
OF- Andre Ethier vs. Tim Lincecum, $2,600
Ethier has historically clobbered RHP, posting a career 139 wRC+ against them. His numbers went down last year in a part time role, but he's picked his production up big time in '15 with a 212 wRC+ vs. RHP, although in only 37 PA. I'm going to say that his 2014 season was the outlier, and remain confident that Ethier will produce at a well above average level vs RHP this year. Ethier was also slotted 2nd in the order yesterday, and if that continues today, his value goes even higher. I like the value a lot at $2,600.
2B- Daniel Murphy vs. Jarred Cosart, $2,700
Hitting coach Kevin Long moved Murphy closer to the plate yesterday because Murphy wasn't having good results on pitches on the outside part of the plate. Murphy responded with two hard hit doubles, one recorded at 112 mph off the bat, second highest on the Mets this season. Murphy's BABIP sits at a wildly unsustainable .167 even after yesterday, far below his career mark of .317. Murphy is going to hit, and his early season slump allows you to get him at a low price.
OF- J.D. Martinez vs. Tommy Milone, $3,400
Martinez has crushed LHP since making his swing adjustment last year, posting about a 170 wRC+ against them. Milone has a career FIP of 4.25, and it sits at an ugly 5.39 so far in '15.
P- David Price vs. Minnesota Twins, $11,000
I (and many others) got burned with Price last time out against the Yankees, but that doesn't sway my confidence in this matchup. The Twins have the worst offense in the American League with a wRC+ of 68 and they strike out at an above average clip. Price will be in great position to get the win tomorrow and give you his usual elite point total.
1B- Adam Lind vs. Jason Marquis, $3,000
I like a lot about this play: Lind hits RHP very well (130 career wRC+), Jason Marquis is a significantly below average pitcher (5.28 FIP since 2012), and Great American Ballpark is extremely HR friendly. Khris Davis at $2,200 vs. Marquis is also an appealing value play.
