Fantasy Hockey: Working the Waiver Wire Week Twelve

Phil has six waiver wire options for Fantasy Hockey General Managers to consider for week 12 of the Fantasy Hockey season.

Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports

Week twelve of the Fantasy Hockey season begins on Monday December 21, 2015. The season is nearing the halfway point and if you haven't begun shedding your roster of your less than productive players than now is the time to get that done. If you are looking to fine tune your roster or just want some extra punch in your lineup this week then I have some options for you to consider.

Teams with four games this week are the Dallas Stars and the St Louis Blues.

Teams with just one game this week are the Buffalo Sabres, New York Rangers and the San Jose Sharks. Every other NHL team has either three or two games this week so please check the schedule and act accordingly.

Week 12 Back to Back Games

Dallas and St Louis have two sets of back to back games this week so watch the waiver wire and you might possibly want to stream goaltenders on those days.

Anaheim (Mon-Tue), Arizona (Sat-Sun), Boston (Sat-Sun), Carolina (Sat-Sun), Columbus (Sat-Sun), Dallas (Mon-Tue, Sat-Sun), Edmonton (Sat-Sun), Minnesota (Mon-Tue), Montreal (Mon-Tue), Pittsburgh (Sat-Sun), St Louis (Mon-Tue, Sat-Sun), Toronto (Mon-Tue) and Winnipeg (Mon-Tue).

Week 12 Waiver Wire Options

Left Wing: Matt Beleskey and the Boston Bruins have three games on the schedule this coming week and over his past five games he's scored 1 goal, 2 assists on 16 shots on goal for a plus minus rating of 1 these past five games are a nice thing to see. Beleskey is getting roughly 17 minutes a night skating on the Bruins top line as well as the Bruins second power play unit. Beleskey this season has racked up 24 minutes in penalties and is currently available in just over 55 percent of all Major Fantasy Hockey leagues.

Right Wing: Valeri Nichushkin and the Stars have four games this week and over the past five games he's scored 1 goal with 3 assists on just 6 shots on goal for a plus minus rating of 3 skating roughly 16 minutes a game on the Stars second line as well as the Stars second power play unit. Nichushkin has only 6 minutes in penalties this season and is available in just over 50 percent of all Major Fantasy Hockey leagues.

Center: Ryan Spooner and the Bruins have three games this week and over the past five games Spooner has been hot; like 3 goals and 3 assists hot. He also has 12 shots on goal during that stretch for a plus minus rating of 2 skating roughly 13 minutes a night on the Bruins third line as well as on the Bruins top power play unit. This season Spooner has 21 penalty minutes and is available in over 90 percent of all Major Fantasy Hockey leagues.

Defense: Matt Dumba and the Minnesota Wild have three games this coming weeks and over the past five games he's scored 1 goal with 1 helper on 6 shots on goal for a plus minus rating of 1 skating roughly 14 minutes a night on either the second or third line of defense as well as the second power play unit. This season Dumba has 8 penalty minutes and is available in just over 90 percent of all Major Fantasy Hockey leagues.

Defense: Johnny Oduya and the Stars have four games this week and let me tell ya Oduya has been hot. Over the past five games he's scored 3 goals with 2 helpers on just 4 shots on goal for a plus minus rating of 5 skating roughly 17 minutes a night on the Stars second line of defense. For the season Oduya has 10 penalty minutes and is available in over 90 percent of all major Fantasy Hockey leagues.

Defense: Roman Polak and the Toronto Maple Leafs have three games this week and over the past five games Polak has 4 helpers and 7 shots on goal for a plus minus rating of 7 skating roughly 18 minutes a night on the Leafs third defensive line although he's also in the last couple of games been on the top defensive unit. Polak has raked up 16 penalty minutes this season and is available in over 90 percent of all Major Fantasy Hockey leagues.

Good luck this week Fantasy Hockey General Manager!
