Quarterbacks

Stud: Russell Wilson $8,500 at BAL

Wilson has played well as of late. In the last three games, he has 12 touchdowns and has exceeded 25 fantasy points in each of those games. The Seahawks take on the Ravens this weekend, which has struggled against the pass all season. Being that the Ravens are solid against the run, they might force the Seahawks to pass the ball. The Ravens are surrendering 278.75 passing yards per game and have allowed 22 passing touchdowns. Since Week 5 the Ravens have yielded two or more passing touchdowns in six of their eight games and quarterbacks have eclipsed 19 Fantasy points in five of those games. Wilson offers one of the highest ceilings this weekend and even though he was the highest owned quarterback in Thursday’s $2 Snap, he was only owned 10%.

Other Studs: Tom Brady $9,300, Cam Newton $9,200, and Ben Roethlisberger $8,300

Value: Tyrod Taylor $7,500 at PHI

There are a couple of things I like about Taylor this week: The matchup is good, he’ll likely be low owned, and he’s been playing well. He has put together two consecutive strong starts in the last two weeks. He has seven touchdowns and has topped 26 fantasy points in each of those games. The fact that all the attention is on LeSean McCoy this week (rightfully so), would likely cause less people to be on the Bills passing game, hence driving Taylor’s ownership percentage down. He was the sixth highest owned quarterback in Thursday night’s $2 snap at 6.6 percent. The Eagles are allowing 272.6 passing yards per game and have surrendered 28 passing touchdowns. They’ve also yielded three rushing touchdowns and the reason I mention that is because Taylor has three rushing touchdowns this season and averages 6.3 rushes per game. He makes an excellent pivot play from some of these other quarterbacks getting more of the attention this week.

Other Values: Blake Bortles $7,600 and Ryan Tannehill $6,900

Running Backs

Stud: Matt Forte $7,800 vs. WAS

By now we all know that McCoy is the chalk play at running back this week. Knowing that his ownership is going to be high, you might want to go a different direction at running back to have a more unique lineup. Now don’t get me wrong you need chalk to win tournaments, but there are several other good plays to choose from. For example, Matt Forte. He received 21 carries and caught five passes last week, and also got in the end zone. He tallied up 20.8 fantasy points. The Bears run the ball 46.07 percent of the time, which is the seventh highest in the NFL. It’s clear that under new head coach John Fox, they emphasize more on pounding the rock. This is a good matchup for Forte as the Redskins surrender 106.6 rushing yards per game and 4.5 yards per carry. They also give up 4.8 receptions and 35.7 receiving yards per game. Forte offers a steady floor and plenty of upside. He was owned just 5.6 percent in Thursday’s $2 Snap.

Other Studs: Doug Martin $8,000 and LeSean McCoy $7,900

Value: T.J. Yeldon $6,400 vs. IND

Yeldon usually doesn’t receive a ton of love, but he’s been fairly decent and usually reasonably priced. He’s also more involved in the passing game than most would think. He averages 4.1 targets per game and averages 3.2 receptions per game (he has caught four passes or more in three of his last four games). The Colts surrender 99.7 rushing yards per game and 4.2 rushing yards per carry, while giving up nine rushing touchdowns this season. They’re also yielding 4.8 receptions per game and have allowed three receiving touchdowns to opposing backs. I’m expecting the Jags to win this game and be ahead for most of the game, so Yeldon should see plenty of carries in this contest. He was owned just 7.3 percent in Thursday night’s $2 snap.

Other values: DeAngelo Williams $7,300, Jonathan Stewart $7,200, Lamar Miller $6,600, and Shaun Draughn $6,500

Wide Receivers

Stud: A.J. Green $8,500 vs. PIT

Green has put together two strong performances in consecutive games and torched the Steelers the last time he played against them. In his last two games, Green has caught 11 passes for 180 yards and has scored three touchdowns. He topped 20 fantasy points in each of those games. The last time he played against the Steelers, he caught 11 passes for 118 yards and a touchdown. He has fared well against the Steelers throughout his career. He has played against them nine times and has five touchdowns, while averaging seven receptions and 89.4 receiving yards per game. The Steelers can stop the run, but struggle in defending the pass. The Steelers are surrendering 191 receiving yards and 14.8 receptions per game to receivers, while yielding 14 touchdowns. They’ve also given up more than 20 Fantasy points in each game this season. This is projected to be a shootout as it has the second highest over/under (50 points) and just a 2.5 point spread.

Other Studs: Antonio Brown $9,300, Odell Beckham Jr. $8,300, Allen Robinson $8,500, Brandon Marshall $8,200, and Mike Evans $8,000

Value: DeVante Parker $5,900 vs. NYG

Parker has played more snaps in the last two games and that has converted into a touchdown in each of those games. He has seven receptions for 143 yards and two touchdowns the last two weeks and has topped 13 fantasy points in each of those games. He has also been targeted 15 times in the last two games. The Giants have allowed over 20 fantasy points per game to receivers in eight straight games and have allowed 10 touchdowns in that span. They surrender 190.8 receiving yards and 14.9 receptions per game to opposing receivers. Jarvis Landry is dealing with a knee injury that kept him limited in Friday’s practice. Although he is not expected to miss this game, it’s something worth monitoring because if he suffers any setbacks and does miss, Parker could be in for an even larger role this week.

Other Values: Alshon Jeffery $7,500, Sammy Watkins $7,200, Brandin Cooks $7,100, Vincent Jackson $6,800, Doug Baldwin $6,800, and Allen Hurns $6,600

Tight Ends

Stud: Greg Olsen $6,600 vs. ATL

Olsen was the highest owned tight end in Thursday’s $2 Snap (18.2 percent) and will likely be the highest owned tight end this week, but as I’ve mentioned before you need chalk in your lineups to win tournaments. In such a volatile position, why not go with the surest player. Olsen is just that. Not only does he provide a steady floor, but he also has one of the highest ceilings of tight ends. In fact, he’s projected with the highest ceiling this week on Fantasy Labs. Olsen averages 8.7 targets per game, which is the highest on a per game basis amongst tight ends. He has scored three touchdowns in his last six games and has topped 12 Fantasy points five times in that span. This is a good matchup for him as the Falcons surrender 57.3 receiving yards and 5.8 receptions per game to tight ends, while allowing six touchdowns.

Other studs: Delanie Walker $6,100 and Tyler Eifert $6,300

Value: Austin Seferian-Jenkins $5,500 vs. NO

Seferian-Jenkins played just 21 snaps last week, but I would say that the Bucs were easing him in more than anything else. Even though he only played 21 snaps, he was targeted six times. This week he plays against one of the worst defenses in the league, especially against tight ends. The Saints surrender 84.7 receiving yards and 6.3 receptions per game to tight ends, and have given up 10 touchdowns (second most in the league). In the last four games, tight ends are averaging 111 yards and 8.5 receptions per game against the Saints, and have scored SIX touchdowns. Needless to say, they’ve gotten worse as the season progresses. Seferian-Jenkins flashed his upside in Week 1 and is a big red zone threat on this offense. Last week he was targeted in 29 percent of the snaps he played, assuming he sees more snaps this week, he should have a 7-9 targets floor. This is a good spot for him at a decent price.
