FanDuel/SB Nation Fantasy Football League: Week 12
Quarterbacks
Stud: Carson Palmer $8,100 at SF
In his last three games Palmer is averaging 351.3 passing yards per game and has thrown 11 touchdowns. He has topped 21 Fantasy points in each of those games. He has a favorable matchup against a team he already had success against earlier this season. In Week 3 against the Niners, he threw for 311 yards and two touchdowns. That performance was good for 19.54 fantasy points. The 49ers are surrendering 290.8 passing yards per game and have yielded 17 passing touchdowns. The Cardinals have an implied point total of 27.5 points this weekend. He’s the clear cut top quarterback option this week.
Other Studs: Tom Brady $9,000, Drew Brees $8,200, and Philip Rivers $8,000
Value: Josh McCown $6,300 vs. BAL
McCown will get the start against the Ravens on Monday Night. His best game this season actually came against the Ravens in Week 5. He threw for 457 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions, while scoring 35.48 fantasy points. McCown has thrown two or more passing touchdowns in five of his last six starts. He has topped 300 passing yards in three of those games. The Ravens secondary has been susceptible against the pass all season. Opposing quarterbacks are averaging 273 passing yards and have thrown 19 touchdowns against the Ravens. They surrender the second most fantasy points per game. The Browns have an implied point total of 22 points. McCown is a solid Monday night hammer at a very reasonable price.

Running Backs
Stud: Adrian Peterson $9,000 at ATL
There is plenty of value at the running back position this week, so you may not be interested in paying up for a running back, but if you’re paying up to be contrarian, Peterson is the back to pay up for. He has scored a touchdown in three consecutive games and has rushed for over 100 yards in three of his last four games. He has topped 20 fantasy points in two of his last three starts. This is a favorable matchup for Peterson as the Falcons have surrendered 13 touchdowns and are allowing 135.8 total yards to running backs this season. Peterson receives 75 percent of the team’s red zone carries and has been in nearly 70 percent of the offensive snaps for Vikings this season. This is expected to be a close game and the Vikings have an implied point total of 22.25 points.
Other Studs: Todd Gurley $8,800
Value: T.J. Yeldon $6,500 vs. SD
Yeldon has a great matchup against the league's worst run defense. Opposing running backs are averaging 116 rushing yards, 5.1 rushing yards per carry, 5.4 receptions, 57.3 receiving yards per game, and have scored 13 touchdowns against the Chargers defense. Yeldon is averaging 19.3 touches per game and four targets per game. He also receives 52.8 percent of the red zone rushes and 9.4 percent of the red zone targets. He offers a high floor, as well as ceiling in this game. The Jaguars are at home this week and are the favorite, this is something I look for when rostering a running back. His ownership percentage might see a slight bump up this week as many people are talking about him, but he remains a very solid option and a great value play even at a higher than normal ownership percentage. Yeldon receives a heavy workload and plays the worst run defense in the league, there isn’t much to dislike.

Wide Receivers
Stud: Antonio Brown $9,000 at SEA
There are several elite wide receivers that are in play this week and DeAndre Hopkins will likely be the highest owned of the bunch, but if I can get a receiver of Brown’s caliber at a much lower ownership percentage in tournaments, I will. Obviously one has a far better matchup than the other one in this instance, but both have relatively close ceilings. Brown is averaging 11.4 targets per game, but has been targeted 37 times in the last two games. He has topped 30 fantasy points in two consecutive games. The Seahawks defense has only allowed three touchdowns to opposing receivers. However, they are usually much tougher against big and strong wide receivers. If you consider the amount of targets Brown receives and his talent, it’s almost a no brainer to get him in your lineups despite an unappealing matchup.

Value: Travis Benjamin $5,900 vs. BAL
Benjamin started of the season scoring double-digit fantasy points in six consecutive games. He then struggled in the next three contests where he was unable to reach five fantasy points in any of those games, but bounce back last week and scored 14.1 fantasy points. Earlier this season, he caught six passes for 83 yards against the Ravens. That was good for 11.3 fantasy points. He’s averaging 8.2 targets per game and has been targeted fewer than six times just once since Week 3. Chances are that Benjamin will be targeted 7+ times this game, which is good for someone at this price. You can expected him to have a solid day against a subpar secondary.

Tight Ends
Stud: Delanie Walker $6,100 vs. OAK
Walker is averaging 7.3 targets per game, which is the seventh-most among tight ends. He has topped 14 fantasy points in two of his last three games, while finding the end zone twice in that stretch. Walker is a very steady tight end and offers a relatively safe floor. This is a great matchup for Walker as he plays the Oakland Raiders who are one of the worst teams defending against tight ends. They’re surrendering 53.1 receiving yards and five receptions per game to opposing tight ends, while allowing the most touchdowns (10). I’ve been targeting tight ends against the Raiders all season and it’s only backfired twice. Give Walker a go this week.
Other studs: Rob Gronkowski $8,400 and Gary Barnidge $6,100
Value: Jordan Reed $5,800 vs. NYG
Let’s face it, Reed is arguably a top five tight end in the league when healthy. He averages the fourth-most targets per game amongst tight ends (8.2) and is averaging 5.9 receptions per game. He faces the New Giants who are currently the second worst defense when it comes to defending tight ends. The Giants have allowed the most receiving yards to opposing tight ends (815). They’re allowing 81.5 receiving yards and 6.5 receptions per game to the position, while yielding seven touchdowns. They’ve allowed 100+ receiving yards in two of their last three games to opposing tight ends and three touchdowns in that span. In Week 3 when Reed played against the Giants, he caught six passes for 96 yards.
