You're either getting ready for the playoffs or playing spoiler at this point. It's been a great season so far, we want to send you some good advice and good vibes heading in to the weekend. I'll go through a few of my favorite desperations plays for this week, players owned in less than 1/3 of Yahoo leagues.
Quarterback
TJ Yates - Houston Texans
Yates will be filling in for the injured Brian Hoyer this week. If Yates is anything, he's fearless. That is not the greatest attribute once defenses have had time to study the game tape, but Yates has that backup's advantage this week against the Jets. I expect Yates to take several chances downfield, and when you're playing with DeAndre Hopkins, that could end up making for a big fantasy day for Yates.
Mark Sanchez - Philadelphia Eagles
I have faith that Sanchez is going to put up a couple of very nice games while filling in for Sam Bradford. He played well last year in this role, and I think Sanchez is good enough to take advantage of a weak Bucs defense. This is a good sign for the Jordan Matthews owners out there, too. Sanchez is the easiest plug and play pick this week.
Running Back
Charles Sims - Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Unlike Quarterback, its slim pickin's on the RB waiver wire this week. Sims is one of the best options owned in under 33% of leagues, though. I expect the Eagles are going to get out front of the Bucs early, and that could mean a lot of action for these Buccaneers running backs in the passing game. Sims has showed us he has the potential to put up good numbers when he gets the ball, and I'm crossing my fingers that this week he'll get that chance.
Shaun Draughn - San Francisco 49ers
Draughn had a nice week for the Niners week 9 against a soft Atlanta Falcons defense. This week, he'll have to face a much tougher Seattle Seahawks squad. I respect the Seahawks defense, but with so few options available on waivers, getting a starting running back is just about the best you can hope for. It is hard to bet on a Blaine Gabbert led offense, but, I'll take my chances with Draughn this week.
Wide Receiver
Devin Funchess - Carolina Panthers
Funchess has seen an uptick in his usage over the past couple of weeks, and we should see that continue this week when the Panthers host Washington. The lack of receiving options in Carolina helps Funchess here, and he is making some plays when Cam looks his way. Funchess seems to be adjusting fairly well to the pro game, and I think this week we might see him put up a very nice performance.
Robert Woods - Buffalo Bills
I think the Patriots smoke the Bills this weekend, even without Julian Edelman and Dion Lewis. With Woods' deep speed and Tyrod Taylor's arm, Woods is going to have plenty of chances to get deep on some desperation shots downfield. I'm hoping Woods coming down with one of those deep shots this week, and ends up giving you a nice day.
Tight End
Jacob Tamme - Atlanta Falcons
Tamme is having a nice run of games here late in the season for the Falcons. This week, he's facing an Andrew Luck-less Colts team that has, at best, not looked great on defense this year. With teams having to pay so much attention to Julio Jones and Devonta Freeman, Tamme is doing a nice job providing another option for Matt Ryan. While I think we've already seen his biggest game this year, I think Tamme has a nice floor from here on for this season.
Austin Seferian-Jenkins - Tampa Bay Buccaneers
I've called for you to start ASJ a few times already this year, and so now I feel compelled to continue recommending him until he actually gets back on the field. If he plays, he'll see targets and produce.
Defense
The Bears will face Brock Osweiler and the Denver Broncos this week. John Fox was fired by the Broncos last year, and now he'll get to face them minus Peyton Manning. Osweiler may come in and look serviceable, we know the Broncos have plenty of weapons on offense. But, a lack of great options elsewhere make the Bears my favorite low-owned streamer this week.
Kicker
Josh Lambo - San Diego Chargers
Lambo has been a nice option this year for us at Kicker. With the Chargers going up to Detroit and playing inside, I expect Lambo will have a few chances to knock in some 3 pointers this week.
That's it for this week folks. Good luck out there!
