Week 11: Start Em, Sit Em - Derek Carr, Mike Evans, and others

Quarterbacks

Start Em

Derek Carr, OAK at DET - Carr has been one of this season's biggest surprises. He is top 10 in fantasy points amongst quarterbacks. He's averaging 266.2 passing yards per game, has thrown 21 touchdowns, and just six interceptions. He has topped 300 passing yards in three consecutive games and could make it a fourth as he has a very favorable matchup. The Lions are surrendering 276.7 passing yards per game and have allowed 16 passing touchdowns, including two in each of their last three games. Carr has thrown 10 touchdowns in his last three games and has attempted over 35 passing in each of those games. He should be able to pick apart this vulnerable secondary.

Ryan Tannenhill, MIA vs. DAL - Since returning from their bye week in Week 7, the Cowboys have allowed just two passing touchdowns. In each of those four games, no quarterback has topped 300 passing yards against them. In fact, only one quarterback has eclipsed 300 passing yards against the Cowboys this season, and that was Drew Brees. They're allowing 14.2 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks. Only Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and Matt Ryan have eclipsed 20 fantasy points against the Cowboys. Those are some of the league's top quarterbacks. Tannenhill has struggled in the last three games. He's thrown two touchdowns and has turned the ball over three times. He's averaging 15.3 fantasy points per game in his last three games, which is roughly three fewer fantasy points than his season average. With Romo back, the Cowboys will probably manage the pace of the game and try to control the clock, leaving fewer opportunities for the Miami offense.

Running Backs

Start Em

Charcandrick West, KC at SD - West has put together three strong consecutive starts. He has topped 22 fantasy points (in PPR formats), scored four touchdowns, and is averaging 137.3 total yards in his last three games. This week he faces the Chargers defense that is allowing 115.7 rushing yards per game, 5.1 YPC, and has allowed 11 total touchdowns to opposing backs. They're also yielding 5.7 receptions and 57.8 receiving yards per game. West is a high volume back as he has 20 or more carries in each of the last three games. He should be able to do plenty of damage against one of the league's worst run defenses.

Jeremy Hill, CIN at ARI - Hill is one of several running backs that has been a disappointment this season. He has not rushed for more than 63 yards in a single game and only has double digit fantasy points in games where he has found the end zone. That might be a difficult task this week as he faces the Cardinals defense who has allowed only three rushing touchdowns this season and two of those were in road games. They're allowing just 68.2 rushing yards per game and 3.7 rushing yards per carry. Only Todd Gurley eclipsed 100 rushing yards against the Cardinals defense this year.  There's nothing appealing about the matchup and Hill's performance this season. I'd rather take a shot on another back than depend on Hill to get in the end zone against one of the leagues tougher run defenses.

Wide Receivers

Start Em

Mike Evans, TB at PHI -Even though Evans has struggled with drop passes in recent games, he has still managed to go over 120 yards and top 20 fantasy points (in PPR formats) in three of his last four games. He is averaging 10.8 targets per game for the season, but is averaging 13.3 targets in his last four games. The Eagles are allowing 193.7 receiving yards and 15.3 receptions per game to opposing receivers, while surrendering 12 touchdowns. The Bucs are on the road and could be chasing points as they are a 5.5 point underdog, which could force them to pass the ball more often. This favors Evans and puts him in a great spot for a huge game. He should be in all your starting lineups this week.

DeSean Jackson, WAS at CAR - You would think that when the starting quarterback of a team throws 324 yards and four touchdowns, that team's number one receiver would have a decent game. That wasn't the case for Jackson as he only caught two of his five targets for 44 yards. That happened in a good matchup, this week the matchup is much tougher. The Panthers are allowing the fifth fewest fantasy points per game to opposing receivers (17). They have surrendered five touchdowns and are yielding 147.3 receiving yards per game. Jackson will square off against one of the league's best cover corners, Josh Norman. If I had to wager on who wins this battle, I'd easily put my money on Norman. If Jackson couldn't get the job done against the Saints last week, it's very unlikely he'll be productive this week.
