Last week's poster-boy was Richard Rodgers, who I ranked as the #9 tight end due to his matchup and his quarterback. Rodgers went for 32 yards and a score, good for ninth overall! Clairvoyant, right?
I listed Rob Gronkowski and Jordan Reed as my top two options, and they did finish that way--except for Zach Miller finishing a spot ahead of them both as the #1 tight end of the week. Zach Miller. Wow. Sidenote: the Rams locked up Alshon Jeffery and Martellus Bennett pretty well, allowing Miller and Jeremy Langford to gobble up all the receptions. I expect a return to normalcy for tight end production coming out of Chicago this week.
I threw some shade on Johnny Manziel last week by ranking Gary Barnidge at 12th overall, and Johnny responded by actually playing decent. As a result, Barnidge finished with 65 yards and a score, good for the fifth-best output at the TE position.
Week 11 is a week of brutal matchups for guys who are normally dependable. Antonio Gates, Tyler Eifert, and Jordan Reed all have tough matchups, which means Travis Kelce makes the circle of trust as a top three guy in Week 11. I've been down this Kelce road before and experienced only regret, but the matchup is too good to ignore.
This week's cheap play of the week is Eric Ebron, who draws the Oakland Raiders "defense." The Raiders have allowed the 2nd most fantasy points to the tight end position this season, and after the elite TEs are off the board you should always be looking to take advantage of an easy matchup like this one.
Let's get to it.
