Fantasy Hockey Quasi-Early Trends and Pretends 6.0 (NHL Power Rankings)

Early trends. What to trust, what to watch out for. Power Rankings

Timothy T. Ludwig-USA TODAY Sports

We are just over 22% into the 2015-2016 NHL season.

Goalies. We are far enough into the season to get a good feel for the Goalie Stats.

1.       The Toronto Maple Leafs have been using two goalies: Jonathan Bernier - 0 wins, 7 loses, 1 OTL, 3.17 GAA and .895 sv percentage AND James Reimer - 5 wins, 2 loses, 3 over time loses, 2.3 GAA and .925 sv percentage. James is 17th in GAA and 12th in save percentage while posting .500 on a bad team. He's 28% owned.

2.       The Winnipeg Jets have also been using two goalies: Ondrej Pavelec - 4 wins, 6 loses and 1 OTL, 2.96 GAA and .901 sv % AND Michael Hutchinson - 4 wins, 2 loses and 1 OTL, 2.77 GAA and .915 sv %. Not quite the disparity until you consider this.
Pavelec faced: Boston, NYI, Calgary, St. Louis, Tampa Bay, LA, Columbus and Toronto. (5 playoff teams, 3 of the worst teams in the league)
Hutchinson faced: New Jersey, NYR, Minnesota, Chicago, Montreal and Ottawa. (All playoff teams if the season ended today).
Michael Hutchinson is 28% owned.

3.       Reto Berra has 4 wins, 3 loses, a 1.5 GAA (first among qualified goalies) and .953 sv %. He has 2 shutouts (2nd in the league). He's 41% owned. His team (Colorado Avalanche) is 2nd in the league in blocked shots (316).

4.       In his last 5 games Sergei Bobrovsky has 4 wins, 1 loss, 2.22 GAA and .930 sv %.

5.       In his last 5 games Roberto Luongo has 2 wins, 3 loses, 3.13 GAA and .885 sv %.

6.       In his last 5 games Karri Ramo of the 3rd to last place Calgary Flames has 3 wins, 3 loses, 2.52 GAA and .92 sv %. I don't see this being long standing but for the time he's playing well and is 12% owned. Oh and his team ranks first in blocked shots (326).

7.       4 of Linus Ullmarks last 5 starts have amassed to 4 wins, 0 loses, 1.50 GAA and .956 sv %. He's seeing much more playtime now than Chad Johnson but avoid him over the next week as they face Dallas twice. He is 10% owned.

8.       With Carey Price still out, Mike Condon remains a very competent backup. He had a bad matchup vs. Colorado but has 6 wins, 1 loss and 2 OTL's, 2.38 GAA and .921 sv %. He is 59% owned.

9.       I would not be surprised to find Braden Holtby among the Vezina nominees at the end of the year.

10.   Ryan Miller might not have the starting job for long in Vancouver. He has lost the last 5 while Jacob Markstrom looked good in his start vs. Columbus. This will be an interesting situation to watch as Markstrom has not showed much.

Goalie can be a finicky position and if you are struggling there is usually a gem hidden out there to be found.
