Week 8 Tight End Rankings - Standard Leagues

Heath drops some tight end knowledge for Week 8.

Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

Last week Jordan Reed returned with a vengeance, garnering top honors at the tight end position. You always start him when he is healthy.

Rob Gronkowski returned to the upper echelon with a second-place finish. We knew that five targets per game business would regress to the norm eventually!

I was excited about Antonio Gates versus the Oakland Raiders, but Gates held out on us a bit with his injury status so Ladarius Green got the nod and totaled 45 yards and a score, good for fourth overall at the position.

Travis Kelce only saw six targets last week, despite Jeremy Maclin's absence. He is simply not used enough in the Kansas City offense to warrant anything other than mid-tier consideration. I prefer a healthy Jordan Reed over him--whenever Jordan Reed is healthy...

This week, the big move is the most obvious--Tyler Eifert is my number one option at tight end. The Steelers have been dominated by the big guys thus far in 2015, and Eifert is the sort of elite talent that can keep that train going.

Benjamin Watson is a great fill-in or flex play, as the Giants allow the most receptions to tight ends so far this season. Watson proved he could excel in an easy matchup against Atlanta earlier this season. This is another easy matchup.

Austin Seferian-Jenkins is the dark horse for an explosion, as Vincent Jackson is out multiple weeks with a knee injury and Louis Murphy is out for the season. "ASJ" and Mike Evans are the only towers left standing in Tampa right now. I will probably take a stab at ASJ in a GPP or two this coming weekend.
