Fantasy Basketball: C rankings

Top 25 ranked Cs in the 2015/16 Fantasy Basketball season...

All hail The Brow.

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

I’ve been saying this for the other positions this year, but it really is getting to be a very deep league. Even the late round C options (think outside the Top 25 even) have real upside.

Let’s walk through everything…

There can only be one:
1. Anthony Davis

He gets ranked by himself, as he's in a class all by himself.

All that glitters is not gold:

2. DeMarcus Cousins
3. Serge Ibaka
4. LaMarcus Aldridge

5. Rudy Gobert

If you don’t manage to snag Anthony Davis with the #1 overall pick, you may want to consider waiting until the 3rd round to find your C. Cousins is a beast, but is probably the most volatile player in the league. He could be suspended at any moment. I like Ibaka, but KD’s return makes Ibaka’s stats uncertain. Aldridge on the Spurs raises some serious usage questions. Gobert had a fantastic year last season, but I don’t trust him as an elite player just yet.

Value picks:
6. Paul Millsap
7. Al Horford
8. Kevin Love
9. Blake Griffin

For this price, I’d focus squarely on this section.

Shiny happy people:

10. Nikola Vucevic
11. Marc Gasol
12. Brook Lopez

I just don’t trust any of these guys to get their numbers. I really have no reason to distrust Vucevic, I simply think he’s overrated. As the talent pool increases on the Magic, his usage is going to decline… I love Marc Gasol as a player, but he’s never really beasted in Fantasy… Brook Lopez is probably the biggest injury risk in the NBA.

What wonderful toys:

13. Hassan Whiteside
14. Nerlens Noel

They’re so much fun to own, but who really knows what to expect out of them this year? (With that said, they’re ESSENTIAL in dynasty leagues.)

Are you kidding me?
15. Pau Gasol
16. Al Jefferson
17. Chris Bosh
18. Andre Drummond
19. DeAndre Jordan
20. Derrick Favors
21. Marcin Gortat
22. Jonas Valanciunas

Look at the mouth-watering options between 15 – 22. I would have no problem skipping every C option until this section. It’s a gold mine. A gold mine I tell you!

Just somebody that I used to know:
23. Greg Monroe
24. Dirk Nowitzki
25. Tyson Chandler

Still not terrible options, but not what they used to be.

Honourable mention:
Dwight Howard
Karl-Anthony Towns
Joakim Noah
Roy Hibbert
Frank Kaminsky

Howard is one step away from early retirement. So many injury issues lately… Karl-Anthony Towns obviously has lots of upside, but what can we realistically expect from the #1 overall pick in his rookie season? Noah and Hibbert are blasts from the past, but they both still have gas left in the tank – if they’re healthy. Not sure what kind of impact Frank the Tank will make, but he’s got the right skill set for today’s NBA. I’ll snag him in deep leagues or as a late round flier.

Perhaps it’s old age, but I don’t remember the C rankings ever being so deep before. Many of these guys aren’t actually Cs, but as long as they get the designation, that’s all you need to worry about.

Game on.
